I’m from Massachusetts and when I was stationed at at Ft. Carson, it was cold and snowy in winter but the snow was dry and light and d as Lao not as bad as to deal with as on the Coast with heavier snow. The climbing is awesome and the trails and cliffs are great hiking and climbing. As well as the mountains themselves are beautiful

I'm from Massachusetts also and was stationed at Hanscom AFB, MA with cold wet snow. after I returned from Vietnam the on to Lowry AFB, CO with cold but dry air and powder snow. I went allover Colorado and enjoyed it a lot and agree with You evaluation of the country there. The next assignment was Hickham AFB, HI with temps from 75 to 85 all year. All three were My first choice for reassignments and I did enjoy each of them.

SPC Andrew K. - I did visit the Air Force Academy in 1971 as a friend of mine William T. Coleman III was a Cadet Captain there. I got to go as His guest to see a show with Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66 one evening at Arnold Hall at the USAFA. His Dad also attended the show with us. His Dad retired from the USA as a Colonel. The Son Bill Coleman and I were Cadets together in Civil Air Patrol I was stationed at Lowry AFB at that time and a SSgt on my 2nd enlistment working Law Enforcement with the USAF Security Police.

I'm glad that never happened to my car when i was stationed at Lowry AFB, CO and this picture shows what I drove then which is a 1964 Pontiac, Lemans. which is pretty much a twin to the GTO in appearance.

I served there from 1992 to 1995. It was cold but not as cold as it would have been if I had been in Louisiana, where I am from. It is a dry cold instead of a humid cold. It snows a lot there but it is also a beautiful state. If you enjoy seeing beautiful country I suggest you go to Fort Carson, Colorado. Take up skiing. There are a lot of ski resorts to go to and you will find a lot of other things to do in Colorado as well. Enjoy your time there.

Fort Carson weather is always changing. Hot one day and then cold the next. When it snows, it snows and there is likely to be a high wind with that. I did a lot of field time in Pinon Canyon and it was colder than a well diggers a$$ in Alaska out there. At times we were butt deep in snow. If you like a hotter climate, I suggest you find another place to be stationed. The Spring and Summer brings beauty to the area. Fort Carson is located at the foot of Cheyenne Mountain and it is beautiful to see. My front door, in senior NCO housing, opened to the sight of this majestic mountain. If you can live with the cold for a little while, you can also enjoy the beauty and warm climate of the Spring and Summer months.
