My greatest irk, is hands in the pockets.
I get it, pockets are so inviting when it's cold or when you're in casual conversation, but for goodness sake show some discipline!
Hands in the pockets are not authorized in AR 670-1. The action is not IAW the proper wear and appearance of the military uniform. I personally belive it looks tacky and highly unprofessional. That's why it has not been allowed. Yet I see NG, RA, AR, enlisted, and commissioned soldiers with their hands so far down in their pockets that they could scratch their kneecaps if they started itching.
I was taught early that the little things are equal to, if not greater than the bigger things. If you can't show a little bit of personal discipline to either, not put your hands in your pockets or pack gloves, then how am I to believe you address any other aspect of your military duties differently?
In my opinion, it comes down to personal pride. Being the so called, "Total Soldier" is about treating every aspect of soldiering equally. From the way you handle a weapon, to the way you handle yourself.
*Back to the matter at hand, what's your most bothersome irk and why?

Many of us have one thing that really gets to us. I have to say that probably my biggest pet peeve (as it pertains to the military) are ill fitted ACU tops. I constantly find myself explaining to people how their uniform should fit.
