What do you desire to see in the soldiers that lead you? What do you desire to see in the soldiers that follow you?

Someone, who at some point in the past, wrote a blank check to the United States to defend her colors far and wide as well as all the people under her banner...no matter what the cost. I am damn proud of my time in service and would defend those colors again if the opportunity was presented.

Soldier: a person who is in the military : a member of an army

An Soldier is anyone who fights for their country and in what they believe. even if it means death.

I am a individual that has taken a oath to uphold the constitution of the United States. When I became a Soldier the Army Values had not even been established. My thoughts are all Soldiers or people who serve have instilled values that are their drive, motivation or purpose. We cannot rest only on ones merit or sense of accomplishment. Truly all branches have their own definition of what is are represents them. I believe it is up to the person to develop their own meaning true successes and failures alike.

I also was on active duty when the Army values were established. So SFC King what were the ideals that you believed should be apart of a soldiers character before the Army tried to define then for us.

If you're not Captain America, you're not a soldier in my book.

SFC do you hold all of the Army values with the same regard, or are there certain ones you hold in greater esteem. Of so, why?

My definition of a Soldier.
Just for for the record this was has not changed since I enlisted in 1993 before the Army defined Army values.
1. A soldier is willing to sacrifice his freedoms so his countrymen can experience theirs.
2. A soldiers responsability is to help his NCO/ officer accomplish the mission, and not to tell his leader how to do his Job.
3. A soldier always looks for away to help others in there tasks. If he isn't helping he is hindering his team.
4. A soldier must be true to himself and never allow anyone to persude himself away from his convictions, others will not follow him if he is not sure of himself!!!
5. A soldier is always a soldier; it's in his heart. Regardless if he's still on active duty, living in civilian life, in uniform or out of uniform. And his attitude toward his Army and his country is the same "THIS WILL DEFEND!!"

The disciplined life is greatly needed in this generation. To always remember who you are and to act accordingly regardless if you are in uniform or not.
