Quote of the day: Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal, a good cigar and a good woman - or a bad woman; it depends on how much happiness you can handle. George Burns

So what is your HAPPINESS? What is your favorite happy ........

Either in the Military of after leaving the military what is that Happiness!?

Have a great day and be HAPPY !

When I first saw your post SSG Robin Rushlo the phrase Don't Worry, Be Happy jumped to mind. This biblical admonition was used as the tag line for an un-cola commercial decades ago long before it became part of a song.
I concur with 1SG (Join to see) that hearing the unselfconscious laughter of young children is always uplifting.
As I believer in my Lord and Savior I understand I need to approach God with childlike trust, faith and confidence. Yet as we grow up it is easier to be childish in terms of selfishness than to be childlike and full of joy and happiness simply by experiencing the world around us.
Music still makes me happy, sad, thoughtful etc. I have learned to appreciate a vast variety of music and try to use music to enhance the mood or alter my won when I am in a funk.

A bad day of fishing, is better than a good day at work.

Truth.
The fish might win the day, but I still get to be in the boat enjoying the day.

The joy of hearing my children's laughter. It never gets old, nor fails to make me happy.

I wish I still had that! All my boys are grown and on their own now and no grandchildren around to play with as often as I would like! I hope you enjoy it for a very long time!

What is my happiness? Should be pretty easy to answer right? Don't get me wrong, I am not unhappy (for the most part). I guess what makes me happy would be my family. I look to them for strength (even if they don't know it). Even when I am having a bad day, a day where I struggle with feelings of failure or disappointment, to them, I am just Daddy and they show me what actual unconditional love is really all about. My wife and my children are the reason I am, because without them, I would be nothing. So yeah, my happiness is my family.

Grandkids! But they're not unlike the good woman/bad woman dilemma that George Burns mentioned in your quote... :-)

Thanks for posting the question. It was exactly what I needed to see first thing this morning. I actually don't know how to answer it. My happiness is kinda a dual-edged sword. My girl's are my HAPPINESS, but with our prolonged separation, it had also become my sorrow.

Hug her hard and do something fun when next you see her, SPC Anne Miller! They are only young once.

Keep your chin up! If I've learned anything, kids will always be one of our greatest sources of happiness and our greatest source of sorrow. If you recognize this is an inevitability you'll be able to focus more on all the joy you get when you see them. In person is better but pictures help too. I hope you see them soon!

I say a little prayer of thanks every morning when I wake up: Thank you God for another day. I am an American. Beside me lies a good woman. We live in a good home. Our children and grandchildren are healthy and happy and (mostly) nearby. Our stomachs are full. Our bodies are warm. Military service has shown me worlds where few of these blessings can be found. I no longer hear the crash of artillery nor the mutter of rifle fire in the distance. The whoop-whoop of a passing helicopter is not reason to fear. It's either the sheriff hovering overhead to insure our safety or a news reporter advising motorists on freeway conditions. Life is good. Who wouldn't be happy?

...and I get to enjoy it all for another day
