I'd like to think I see "humans", not "race"...at least I know that I believe the color of one's skin has nothing (and I mean nothing) to do with their ability, intelligence or right to basic respect. The implication of this slogan is that "all the rest of us" (and just who is that, exactly...the Irish, Jewish, Italian, Latino, Slavic, Asian, or Native-Americans?) don't respect the lives of African Americans. If you want to point to abuses of power...make it about policy, not race. If you want to attack inequality, focus on the skill sets and access to opportunities that are being denied to a much larger cross section of Americans, because people of all races are finding it hard these days. Talk about a united people...not a people divided.

I think all lives matter. I think it's messed up that law enforcement is part of this topic, though I understand why; I have a lot of friends that are police officers and I have seen the good the bad and the ugly of that world. Still doesn't make it right. All lives matter should be the slogan and not this type of reverse racism slogan. We all want equality- so make it equal.

I tell black people that I am 'Miss Black Lady'; with tears in my eyes. I also tell them that I pray for them fervently; and often.
I believe it really helps black people; if they think of themselves as human beings; and not as blacks.

Honestly...any life matters and I am VERY sick of all this racial crap floating around. I had never met a black person until I went into Basic and racism was VERY alive in the Army back then from all nationalities. Throughout my life I have had some dear and true friends that were black, we hung together and stood by each other no matter what and I learned a lot about PEOPLE and how ignorant they can be no matter what color their skin is. There are ignorant people in every race and if your gonna play the stereo type people so often relate to races then you have no respect from this old fart!!! Yes Black lives matter, just as white lives or any other life. The bare butt reality is that the majority of black fatalities in America come from blacks killing blacks and I for one think its high time to say who the F*** gives a hairy ratts A**???? If people werent so stupid and full of them selves we wouldnt have these issues. I have read stories about blacks sueing whites for what their forefathers did to their slave forefathers???? REALLLLLY?????? All I can say is leave me out of any and all equations dealing with racism, you want me to treat you like an equal??? treat me like an equal not like a plague because of someones twisted ideas and beliefs. All are welcome to cross through my front door as a friend, its how you will leave my house that is the important issue. SSG James J. Palmer IV AKA "JP4", you are the best example I can find on this site of a true and good person/ Friend...wish more were like you!!!!!

Black lives matter but then again, all lives matter. When Presidential candidate Martin O'Malley is forced to apologize for saying, "all lives matter," we have a problem in this nation. All lives should matter in a church in South Carolina. All lives should matter in Chicago where every weekend people are killed. When we use racial terms to identify things, it does not unify us as a nation but leads to more division.

I recall Ferguson. Originally residents were so glad to finally have some percieved representation.... then reality hit. Most "offenders" were not Ferguson citizens. Streets were lines with folks from other cities selling pins and t-shirts, none of the money going to help those who need it. I am sorry to say this, because this is part of the blight of america,... but this is just a slogan being used by groups to perpetuate a way of raising resources for "their" cause. Baltimore had its WORST month EVER for murders. No TV crews camping out covering this. The fact that black lives matter is taken away by the media frenzy to cover the next Ferguson, Baltimore, Texas, Rodney King. Media dollars, PAC fundraising, and political aspirations. I have seen the enemy, and they are us.

Well as I see it, the media wants people to acknowledge that police shoot more black people for traffic violations than they shoot white people for traffic violations. The fact that police shoot people for traffic violations should be a warning that police are abusing their authority and would rather shoot people than protect and serve the people. A police state, where police harass people to be able to generate more money for their prospective government coffers. Once someone stands up for constitutional rights, police shoot them to terminate the now aggressive agitated citizen because the cop feared for his life. It has nothing to do with color or race, but with the pissed off factor. More white people realize that they will have a bigger fine for not kissing the cops asses. Minorities tend to get arrested and or shot for routine traffic tickets because they are tired of kissing police asses when their rights are abused and police hate it when their asses are not kissed, so the pissed off factor goes into high gear from both sides and nobodies life matters.

And upon what do you base those wild accusations off of? Something tells me that if we lived in a police state where cops shoot everyone they feel disrespected them there would be a lot more deaths by cops. Honestly it sounds more like you just got pulled over and are using this forum to vent your outrage.

MSgt (Join to see) - Well tell me if it has been in the news that police have shot men and women for minor traffic violations. That is true. That is something that should be a warning sign that police are over exerting their police authority over the people's constitutional rights. If you haven't been drinking or driving a stolen car or just exited a crime scene of your making, would you consider it normal for you to be arrested for failure to put out a cigarette in your own vehicle, an extension of your home. Then die under police custody. When police and the judicial system can take away your belongings for no other reason than they suspect you of a crime and no charges are filed. You think that is ok. You think it is ok for the police to block a road and stop everyone on that road so they can see if there is any infraction they can charge you with. That is unconstitutional. The police are being used by the local governments to harass and fine people without probably cause. You think if your not doing anything illegal it shouldn't matter. That is still an illegal and unconstitutional provocation by the police to steal from the people.Since then, the practice, commonly known "civil forfeiture," has allowed the police to seize cash or property that they suspect is tied to a crime even if the owner isn't charged with one.

Since 2008, thousands of local and state police agencies have made $3 billion worth of seizures of cash and property, the Washington Post reports.

In some cases, cops even introduced the seized cash and items into their own departments, which creates a bit of a questionable incentive. For hundreds of police departments, money or assets from these types of seizures made up 20% or more of their annual budgets, according to the Post.

MSgt Manuel Diaz - I still have yet to see any executions based on traffic violations.
I like how instead of responding to my comment you try to attribute completely off the wall statements to me. I don't remember commenting on civil forfeiture or checkpoints, but it would appear that I support them wholeheartedly according to you. However, since you brought them up, the Supreme Court has ruled both to be Constitutional despite your claims. Additionally they are not road blocks to "see if there is any infraction they can charge you with", they are sobriety checkpoints and the CDC has attributed a 20% decrease in DUI related crashes in states utilizing that program. As far as your well played misdirection on civil forfeiture, you are correct the owner does not need to be charged with a crime. You left out the user of the property though. In the one example sited the owner of the house was not charged, but their son who was using the house to deal drugs was charged.
Despite the fact that you did not ask for my opinion but instead told me how I felt. I do not agree with the Sandra Bland arrest. I do not agree with a family losing their home because their son was dealing drugs.

When we look at current rates of incarceration, police violence and opportunities available to kids in our inner cities, it does appear that black lives matter less to us as a society than the lives of people who are not black. That's got to change, because black lives matter.

It is a reminder to the establishment that we are all Americans and it is not all right to target a group based on your own racist views. It is a reminder that all Americans are created equal and have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is a reminder that Jim Crow, slavery, and the abuses of the last 300 years were horrible and need to be laid to rest. It is reminder that racism is alive and well in the United States and we have a long way to go.

MSgt Manuel Diaz who's lieing to themselves. It is alive and well and is causing as much damage to our country as anything else. No one should kiss anyone's ass but it cannot be denied that black people are the victims of far more hatred and abuse than any other racial group in the United States.

SFC Joseph Weber - Are you a democrat? You will never erase human nature. What you fail to realize is that no matter what you say and do in defense of black Americans it will change nothing. Many black Americans have lifted themselves out of government supported slavery; however not enough have. Until those black Americans (and it includes all Americans that have chosen to be slaves of the government for permanent economic support) refuse to be slaves to the government, refuse to be supported by the government and have respect for thenselves and support themselves they will be looked at with disrespect. They don't respect themselves much less anybody else and that breeds racism and hatred. There are less jobs today that is a fact. Less jobs for white, less jobs for blacks, less for all Americans. More racial tension. Government wasted funds inflation. Whatever the majority minority is in your area, that is the nigger, be he a native American, a Chinatown, a Mexican, an African an Irishman an Italian or a Muslim.

MSgt Manuel Diaz So THEY basically get what THEY deserve since THEY don't respect themselves or anybody else. You are spouting the same crap that racists and hate mongers have been saying for the last 50 years. Am I a democrat? No. Do you believe that only democrats are saddened and angered by the racism and abuse in America today? Are you a hate filled racist?

SFC Joseph Weber I believe racism is alive and growing but not from your viewpoint. As you say we are all Americans, I agree. It is also not all right to target a group based on any racist views regardless this country's historical slavery practice, and that should be but in a museum as historical evidence that we as a people have evolved, somewhat like the Jewish and gypsy holocaust in WW2, not to forget the efforts of the US government to eradicate the native tribes of this country; however we the people are being manipulated to reignite those flames for political reasons and it is working. We as a people did almost succeed in equality until this present administration seemingly reversed it all, not that it was perfect but much improved. Today you see Jewish hatred resurfacing, Mexican hatred igniting as we have spoken about black lives matter, and force feeding Americans to love and accept Muslims in every way. Does it not appear to you as a chessboard manover of disrupting the American dream. And yes I do not feel sorry for those that refuse to help themselves and demand the government take care of them in all manner of life and complain when they want more. None of them were ever slaves . Welfare was designed to assist untill you got back on your feet, not a way of life, a slave to government control. We have problems that decent jobs could quell; however those running the government are not protecting and preserving the US Constitution nor this republic or the people. They are overspending and letting education and jobs leave this republic and we are fighting one another instead of uniting and purging out the political corruptions that we have allowed politicians to get away with. It's not racism it's manipulation. We need to purge out all the politicians every 20 years so they cannot build empires like they have now. It won't be easy since the democrats and republicans are united to maintain control of this corrupt train.

Instead of "Black Lives Matter" what about ALL LIVES MATTER. The other sounds like only one section of our country matters. Why not instead of Black, White, Oriental, Gay, Lesbian, or Transgender we just say American lives matter. We all live in the same country. so let's all get together and act like one community and defend each other.
