I think they bring a different aspect to the debate. They can use their experiences to assist in the decision making process.

I say let them take a cut in thier own well before any soldier, why test the problem on new recruits ant retirees, let them test it on thier own pensions first. That would be what we cal leading by example, the words they preach at all of us constantly. Thats not heard of anymore unless it benefits them.

I say that if reform should actually happen in the benefits of the services well " You First Sir" lets test the ideas out on all the people that are making the recommendations, and if they will not opt in for the plan that they themselves have created then why expect a private, or anyone else to jump on the band wagon. For example our past presidents earn in excess of $200,000 dollars in pay after thier term of office is completed. Most elected officials Congressman, Senators, do 4 years of "service" and recieve benefits. So I ask why? when a person in the Service must complete 20 plus years to recieve benifits that are not even close in pay or value to the people that would consider stripping away anything from soldiers. If this plan were reversed in total and Comgress were looking at thier own pay, benefits and medical care what would they do I wonder? HELL NO is what they would say. Yet we the people that pay taxes consider that the 17% of the 1% that serve are somehow causing all the money issues, I dont think that math add up myself...

Actually Congressmen do two year terms and senators 6 years. Congressmen must serve more then one term to be eligible for benefits however, senators are eligible after completing one term.

Maybe you should be a Congressman or Senator perhaps you will certainly get better benefits if you do.
