The IED event was even more fun later on when we got back and called Mom/wife and told her about it. As if she didnt have enough to worry about. Best of luck to you all. Take care.

My top 10 in no real order would have to be:
1. Had the chance to get stationed in Germany
2. Had the ability to see the Reserves side and the Active side of things.
3. Became family with people who started out as complete strangers to me at every station I have been to.
4.Been deployed 4 times and each time I learned something new.
5.Linked up with a lost contact friend at SLC half way around the world from where we last saw each other. (8 years since last saw each other)
6. Got the chance to assist in training America's Force while stationed at NTC.
7. Completed a Spur Ride and earned my Silver Spurs also deployed with them and earned my Gold Spurs.
8. Trained Soldiers!
9.Had the ability to work with some amazing people who will forever be mentors to me.
10. This one is really my number one, but had the ability to watch my Soldiers grow, some promoted to the ranks of NCOs and some transition to officers. Had some Soldiers that no one wanted to work with (screw ups) so they gave them to me (I was training room NCO at the time) and turned them into Soldiers that excelled and got promoted.

like #5. While at Drum, my 2 BOQ roomies and I were in 3 different units. We all deployed to Somalia on separate dates in Dec 92 and one day in Feb 93 we all happened to be in Kismayo and got to have chow together. Unfortunately it wasn't our Friday night usual - pizza, wings and beer - but it was great to know we all were doing well. Didn't get back together again until May when the last of us got home. got home by May.

So what tipped you off first, the price or the "high quality" craftsmanship?

hey that makes two of us, 3 paid govt sponsored vacations overseas too. Now I only wish I had my Bosnia tour that they took away from us. We were so ready to do our time but it was turned off for another unit instead.

Although, I'll give Haji-Vision a double thumbs up. Where else can you get "high quality" DVDs of the latest movies in US theaters, before anyone else can. "Please sir to ignore the fuzzy picture and Arabic subtitles"

the price most likely. nothing like watching a movie and someone stands up and walks across the bottom of the screen. Nice versions...indeed.

LMAO on #6, having been the recipient of a few butt strokes from then MSG Marc Larochelle my favorite ROTC SF SNCO. We lost the good SGM in a helicopter crash, about a year after I got my butter bar. First military funeral I ever attended. Still miss him after all this time.

Yeah, a Navy midshipman would probably have a real issue with that as opposed to a Marine midshipman who'd be loving the hell out of it. Just kidding Navy, we still love you!!

Hated take O-4 because you have to leave 1 & 2 behind to become less troop leader and more staff weenie. Though gotta admit as a commo officer I spent more time with my section doing techie things then most of the other S/G officers got to. # 3 - could do it all day long and twice on the weekends - nothing like it!

These are some of my fondest and most memorable moments so they are all pretty well number 1
1.Call me a sentimentalist, But viewing some of the most awesome sunsets thousands of miles from nowhere.
2. Mountain warfare training, California and South Korea
3. Setting in a hooch as an interpreters radio operator listening to the Korean Marine commander giving a speech to his men, I have no clue what they were saying, but thought it was really cool. They actually came in unannounced and without prior notice, so at first I thought I had been overrun.
4. Australian repel in South Korea.
5. Driving around Hong Kong for hours because of a communication gap between us and the cab driver, but I think the driver had as much fun as we did.
6. Living in Hawaii for three and a half years.
Traveling to different countries and exploring off the beaten path.
7. Night FPF in 29 Palms
8. Living in LA-X for three days because of the United Airlines strike. Glad the First Sargent was understanding.
9. Living on ship (USS DENVER) for six months. PT on a the flight deck presented new terrain everyday.
10. Seeing Ray Charles perform in Hawaii.
11 NFL Pro Bowl.
