After getting out, have you ever misplaced, destroyed, or lost an item, that you wished you could replace?

Through the myriad of moves, shifts etc, I find myself losing more and more items.

What about you?

Too many things to mention. Some were lost over the years during various moves, others I callously discarded along the way (thinking I would surely never miss them).

It is funny how so many of these things really weren't missed until something stirred a memory which, in turn, brought on a sense of loss and the desire to have that piece of my past back again.

The only piece of memorabilia that I wish I had was a Zippo lighter with the Army crest and an engraving attesting to the fact that I was a member of the first place squad in my AIT company at Fort Jackson and, of course, to reconnect with the other members: Mort Beach (Texas), Bill Downey (Pennsylvania) and I believe there was one other, an Ivy League graduate with a degree in economics who drove the DIs crazy by doing precisely what he was told...

A chunk of steel from a bridge my platoon got to demo in California 89' after the big San Francisco earthquake that shut down the MLB World Series. As a young E4 12B it was to say the least, a real blast.

I can't find my signed photo of my Drill Instructors. I've lost many things over the years but that is the ONE thing that makes me mental.

I understand that. I spent this weekend trying to find a stupid hoodie. It's something I know I wouldn't have thrown away... But for the life of me I can't find it. Asked my wife about it, and she said "the one I wore when I was pregnant?" (she was a Marine as well) So I knew she didn't throw it out. wandered the house for probably 3 hours.

I've lost track of some things along the way. I will probably downsize quite a lot once I retire so it is not really a big concern. I had a bag of about 75 challenge coins that I cannot find, they were awarded up through about the year 2000. Not a huge loss, something I'd like to pass down someday.

I've lost a few marbles. I no longer look for them as it just causes to lose more.
