The commander thinks that it is a fad. You can't win that one. It is widely up to interpretation and the commander will win the interpretation.

Colored other than natural, spiked, designed, bleached, the list goes on.

You’ll end up in a discussion with an NCO and their interpretation of AR670-1. I haven’t seen anyone beat that combo.

SPC (Join to see) - I am guessing that he did or you would not be asking the internet about your hair.

SPC Darshawn Palmer. You will lose this battler. I’ve been on both sides of the isle and can tell you by experience. I was an E4 once many eons ago and tried to pull as many sleecky moves as I could. Guess what? Slammed!

CW3 Jeff Held - That's some pretty funky hair that won't let you get a gas mask on.

Colloquially, it means to follow a trend or a display a hair style of high popularity. However, by definition, it means your hair style looks stupid. Your commander makes that determination, so we pretty much have no set standard. High-and-tight, hooah?

It's left intentionally vague on purpose. Regulations give a left and right limit, and leave the middle ground to the commander's discretion.

Dude hair regs will never be interpreted. To this day I haven't figured out what a professional, neat and tidy mustache looks like and I certainly was never able to meet regs while in service without looking like a certain Eastern European dictator from the 40s.

With a look like that, in my days, they would tell you, "Wipe that smile off your face young troop, Where do you think you're at, Hollywood!?" Lol

SPC David Willis - Lucky for me, it took 40 years to grow a mustache, runs in the genes.
But I always got teased in the Army, they would ask, "How do you shave everyday, put some milk on your face and let a cat lick it off?" Lol

SPC David Willis - Good friend Benny P. Baxley from Alabama, would shave at 0530hrs and by formation 1400hrs., he would be doing push-ups for not shaving, and that took place everyday.

You sure seem determined to cause yourself unnecessary trouble. The truth is that none of the opinions you get here matter at all. YOUR opinion on this issue doesn't matter. Only your leadership's does, so it's them you should be asking.
