Good morning guys,

I’ve been out of the Corps now for 3 years, and starting to look around into other branches such as the National Guard. My time in the Corps I was a 0331 (Machine Gunner) with a CAAT (Combined Anti Armor Team). My question is what MOS in the Army most reflects my past experience? I’ve heard 11B, and 19D.

Thanks for the help!

When I first came in the Army there were four designators for Infantry: 11B straight leg or Airborne, 11C mortar men straight leg or Airborne, 11H anti-armor straight leg or airborne and 11M mechanized Infantry.
Since the change of the Army fighting force, Infantry has been folded in with armor units. If you are looking for something similar to what you did in the Corps, Infantry would be your best bet the reason for this is now 11B's are trained in mechanized and anti-armor. Another advantage to this is Marine Infantry tactics are the same as Army Infantry tactics. The battle drills are the same.

11 Hotels were specifically TOW qualified and 11M was initially Bradley crews. I carried the ASI C2 when I was Enlisted, Dragon Gunner. I'm glad I never had to use it in combat. The damn thing had the signature from hell and you had to keep the sights on target until it hit, which took 11 seconds at anything close to max effective range, which was only 1000 M. You might as well held up a sign "Shot Me".

CPT Lawrence Cable - They got rid of the 11H because the TOW is so much easier to fire now and hit the target, the skill part of engagement with the TOW is long gone. No longer do TOW gunners spend hours and hours practice engaging a target so the seperate MOS is no longer necessary. So easy now, a 11B can do it............just kidding on the last part for the 11B's out there but you know this former 11H couldn't resist.

SPC Erich Guenther - And the Javelin replaced the old Dragon, which had has the advantage of having useful range and being fire and forget. While technically both systems are man portable, the Dragon loaded pushed 40 lbs and the Javelin is closer to 50, to be an effective anti tank weapon it needs vehicle support.
The old Dragon had the same kind of training requirements as the old TOW and the disadvantage of being shoulder fired off a monopod. On the rare occasion you actually got to fire a real missile, the thing kicked as bad as the old M67 Recoiless Rifle and it was damn easy to lose the rocket while recovering from the recoil.
