RP Members, Connections, and Friends I believe there are some really outrageous nicknames that have been handed out to some of you when you served in the Military. Lets' get them out there and don't be embarrased. Please share! This is one of those Posts that just keep giving over time. RP Members keep adding your nicknames.

Don't leave us hanging - share the story behind the nickname too!!

One of my many was: "Burly" and when I was a PFC/E-3 it was "Horse Collar!" Others I can't repeat from Basic Training - use your imagination!

Because of my long last name, I was given the nickname SanMan on the 3rd day of Navy Basic Training, and that's what I was known as on both the ships I was stationed on.

In basic training because I was an E3 PFC and platoon guide the Drill Sergeants and the whole company called me Drill PRI because of my E3 chevrons. I had Drill Sergeants tell me DRILL PRI BOWNE take charge of your company and march them to the chowhall. While they were observing my actions and cadence calling.

I was called “Crusty” because I was “older” when I went through Basic Training

"El Gato Negro " The Black Cat, whispered behind my back by the Latino Soldier's who started noticing that bad things and things not going the way it was supposed to for any opposing force facing me, up to and losing the no way to lose situation... Example graduation FTX for Recondo School, 1 fireteam vs reinforced sqd with M60 support, in effect 1 vs 3 odds ,a no win situation. Only edge I was given was defend the hill top with a fireteam... End result Reinforced Sqd rendered combat ineffective, only m60 team survived due to ceasefire and end of exercise. My Recondo Instructor unable to hold his laughter in check after the first shots fired
. Example no.2 Div. FTX Company night movement to Bn. Rp. With unexpected Company sized Ambush along route. Result, route change to avoid ambush ,hasty attack on enemy rear , Company size element rendered combat ineffective, est. 15% survival of hasty attack through enemy ranks ,I was pointman... They called me Gato for short , Company FTX , platoon vs my sqd , results platoon rendered combat ineffective only 5 members survived 1 nco, platoon leadership kia, platoon FTX , sqd vs sqd with m60 team support, both offense and defense including no win scenario for my sqd ,results, sqd with m60 team support rendered combat ineffective including loss of every member, zero wins for the exercise, my sqd zero losses ..Pentagon Edre FTX , Only one sqd in the U.S. Army including the Marines completed every task at 93% 97% pass rate second place Marines 83% 87% they failed the whole Edre, along with the rest due to not being able to complete the 12 mile forced march after a 8 mile forced march within 24 hrs...List continues to my personal favorite non mechanized vs mechanized FTX. Ft. Stewart, Ga. My sqd was relieved of duty and assigned to guard duty for the bn. TOW section, due to my starting what the outcome of the exercise would be , which was the mech would run us all over the woods and over run our defenses like we had none... Soooooo, sqd was split up into 2 man teams to act as security for TOW crew... while enroute to a new position at FEBA, our driver drove us into a mech sqd doing a dismounted patrol at 0330 and came to a stop, forcing me and my sqd member to have to go to work... Work was weapons on full auto, mine sling armed, my sqd mate was watching my barrel ...The opposing sqd leader told us we were his POW's, I told him he had it all wrong his entire sqd along with his m60 gunner were our prisoners of war, to which the opposing sqd ldr pointed out the obvious 13 vs 2 impossible odds.. End result , entire dismounted patrol element kia ... They were informed by the grader they had, they were all dead ... I informed them which 2 members of the 101st Abn Div. They had the misfortune to run into.. The next day I was called to the CP, about the OK corral incident as it became known , turns out the Grader turned his report of that particular incident, Copy of which went to CG of the 101st. And flowed downhill to my company commander. The CG asked who was this NCO under his Command??? He was told that's your Pointman, Sir..

The ok corral incident was so named because the grader saw me swing my m16 from sling arms position to firing position in 2 seconds to help mow down the opposing force who never fired a shot...

My last name is Morrison, but my gunny said it was to long for him to pronounce, so he started calling me Mo for short, and eventually the whole squadron started calling me Mo! Rah! HMA-369! USMC
