What percentage of 17C will go to Meade, Lackland, etc.? If I really want to be at Meade, enlisting 17C, what are my chances of being there?

Hey Tom,
I think your chances are pretty good. I was stationed in Fort Meade for many years from 1998 til 2005, and again 2007 until I retired in 2013. I still live in the immediate area due to job opportunities. The reason why I think that there is a good chance to be stationed at Meade is because there is big Military Intelligence community, and the NSA is right next door. Good luck!

I would concur with PFC Lowry's assessment for the most part. Ft. Meade and Ft. Gordon are the primary locations most 17Cs would be stationed, but there are at least 3 other locations currently active duty Cyber Operations Specialists can end up at right now. If you were to enlist in the near future, who knows what it will look like in the 15 months or so after you're done with training.

Honestly you have a 50/50 chance. Coming straight out of AIT the 2 main duty stations you’ll have are Fort Gordon or Fort Meade. If you’re really lucky you’ll get Hawaii or Texas but for the most part you only have 2 options. Either way you’ll probably end up at Meade during your career at some point.
