That does not leave much to the imagination. Looking good is one thing. Looking trashy is another. You can show cleavage, you can have low cut dresses that hint at what is below. That is WAY overboard.

Something like that is asking for double trouble to be talked about:
1. From fellow peers and command.
2. From fellow Soldiers and subordinates.
Avoid the embarrassment.

I think I look best in earth tones, preferrably nothing with padded shoulders 'cause it makes me look gaunt...I try to keep the slit less than two feet in length O.o ...in all seriousness though, it's a frikkin' military function-act accordingly. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen someone wear questionable attire to a dance club and literally dance their clothes off on the dance floor (yeah, smart decision wearing a tube top that's two sizes too big and then wonder why everyone is looking at you)-military balls require this amount of good sense at the minimum. You're not at the club, be modest at least.

The one that is shown in this picture is not appropriate. Maybe for some places but never in a formal setting. I would be embarrassed for her escort.

"What do you want? Are you selling tickets to the Policeman's Ball?" "We're from the Border Patrol ma'am, we don't have balls." Flashpoint
but seriously, this is a serious problem in our military and worthy of endless discussion, oh look, a squirrel!
