Truthfully I believe this could have been a classy dress but the person wearing it isn't acting classy. If you wear a dress like that you can't drop it like it is hot or get low...low. Instead you literally just have to stand there and be the arm candy your supposed to be. You can find a classy functional dress but when in doubt less is more.
classy vs. trashy is easy. If you could wear it to church without asking for forgiveness then it probably is classy. If you can wear it to the club to pick up whomever pays the most for a drink then it is trashy.

As much as it pains me to have to come to the defense of Atlantic City hookers as a resident of New Jersey I must say: 1) The hookers don't look that good! 2) No AC cop is going to allow anyone to walk their streets in a dress like that! I think it would be more appropriate to identify her as an "escort" or "call girl" rather than a hooker. Although a "Hooker" was originally a girl who provided services to his men at the behest of General Hooker of the Union Army. I, myself, have always preferred that my female companions always deserve the title of "Lady" using the traditional old fashioned definition. My wife does, and I am sure that a certain "Thees pretty ladeeeee" does as well! :)

CMSgt (Join to see) Just trying to give a little support to the lady. I would like to assume it looked amazing on the rack....in her case off the rack. :O
I would like to see the CPT now and if he is still married to her...or dating her. And what the AAR was like after the ball.

He's probably a LTC by now, and she's probably a candidate for FRG Spouse of the Year. :-)

A military ball is supposed to be a classy outing. If your gown is too provocative, just go party somewhere else

I'm not completely against the idea of "if you got it, flaunt it".
Maybe just flaunt it at the beach instead of at a formal ball.

I've also seen some flaunt it at redployment ceremonies, you know ....to spark the returning guy's interest.

That ain't it.
PO3 Patricia Lyons
looks like she flaunted hers about 10 years prior and the rest of that orange mess is about to drop

Much like the discussion on "faddish" it's not what it is, it's what it is not. A rule by exception.
A Ball is a Formal / Semi-Formal event. Unfortunately, we, as a society, don't spend much time anymore explaining what Formal (White Tie), Semi-Formal (Black Tie), Business, etc mean anymore. The Military is the last place where it really matters, and even we do a poor job at it.
We've gone from Presidents being sworn in in White Tie (Kennedy was) to the Business Suit of the last 30 years.
Pictured, we see two gentlemen in uniform. One in Mess Dress (White Tie), and one in ASU Dress (Black Tie). We see a number of ladies dressed Formally (in gowns), while the lady showcased is not.
Below is a link to an article that helps some.

Lighten up Francis! Goodness sakes this was a freakin dining out. Whether a dining in or out, those functions let us blow off steam and build camaraderie and here you are sniping at a woman who was brave enough to do both. And brave enough to show off her hot body thank goodness. In all truthfulness, most guys think she's hot and would love to dance with her, closely. The guys who feign being offended are hen pecked wussies afraid of disagreeing with their wife. The women who are offended are in actuality, jealous because they're not that hot or they caught their man drooling or both. You bunch of busy bodies have nothing better to do than take pot shots at a woman who did nothing to you and brought enjoyment to everyone at that dining out. BTW, does anyone know how to get in touch with her because I'd love to meet her.

Saying that you're glad you never served with these people because they don't agree with the way this woman dressed is just as egregious as what you are scolding them for.

You're not very bright. Are we reading the same comments? What these people are doing goes far beyond opinion, they are verbally attacking, berating, casting aspersions, and accusing her of all manner of terrible things, and she did nothing to them. I simply defended her.

That's what moral equivalency gets you. You defend people who are calling her tramp, gutter slut, two bit whore and accusing her of adultery and sleeping with anyone and everyone and I could go on. Those are not simply “opinions” as you put it. And then you defend them by calling me out? Really? I'm in the wrong? For calling them busy bodies? And you’re damn straight, I don’t want to be associated with people who are capable of saying such hideous things about a woman who did nothing to them. If they can say that about her then you’re likely not safe around those types either. But some people feel quite at ease in that company.
