What's the Best Leadership Advice You've Received?

Serve rather than be served.

Communicate and lead by example.

I think the best leadership advice I received as a young non commissioned officer was to talk less and listen more. We often want to be the first to speak when we get put into a leadership position, however, to understand the situation and your troops it's often beneficial to ask smart questions and sit back to listen to others speak. This helps you gain a broad perspective and offer meaningful advice when your time comes to provide input.

Always do what's right, take action when necessary, and take responsibility for your actions.

Take care of your soldiers.
