I think the best leadership advice I received as a young non commissioned officer was to talk less and listen more. We often want to be the first to speak when we get put into a leadership position, however, to understand the situation and your troops it's often beneficial to ask smart questions and sit back to listen to others speak. This helps you gain a broad perspective and offer meaningful advice when your time comes to provide input.
