As PO2 Brian Rhodes said, follow some of the threads. If there is someone that you enjoy talking with, send them a request. You can also look through the "Similar People" to find people that are not only in the same MOS, rank, and branch but in the same area as well. You can also just start sending requests to everyone you see.

I'm pretty new myself, with only one solid topic and many responses. My advice would be, keep an active profile. Even if you can't think of many topics to put out there, respond to other ones, and just be yourself. The crowd on here is really cool, and things will fall into place.

Your doing it already. Put your foot out there and say Howdy! Nice thing everyone should have a profile and you can get some Idea about the Background of the Individual and see if you would like them to be a "Contact".

SPC Keith Goddard I find the best way to make contacts is to first invite them from your email contacts (Facebook or LinkedIn); secondly when you start posting discussions and you receive replies that you like or that you engage with, send them a connection request, Third, check the members that are similar to you, duty MOS or specialty, similar backgrounds, similar assignments, branch of service, etc. Fourth, just connect with people as you come across their posts/discussions. I have made a lot of connections (over 4,200) on RallyPoint. Some have turned into business opportunities; others have turned in mentoring, coaching, looking up information, and helping veterans with the VA and VA issues. Its' really what you want to make it for yourself and what you want to accomplish. I like sharing my ideas on leadership as well. Have fun with it!
