In your opinion, what is the coolest (hip, awesome) job in the United States military? Why is it the coolest?

I think the coolest job in the military is being in a position to help soldiers, to change their lives in a positive manner, to counsel, direct to help them see they can be better people. It's a job you can do no matter what your MOS is.

There are many. Getting paid to dive, parachute, shoot are all super cool. I wasn't cut out to be a Piolet but what red blooded male wouldn't love to fly a jet. Basically a sky motorcycle that goes thousands of miles an hour :)

Truly the makers of men. Next to my father my 1SG in Iraq influenced me in becoming the person I am today. 1SG (Join to see) I don't think he will ever know how much he molded me.

Astronaut.

18 Series Astronaut would be even cooler but I don't think we are supposed to talk about them here?

Just glad you took it as it was meant. I often fear that people do not understand the intended humor when they read it...oh sorry, have to stop writing the men in black are coming in right now.

FRAUD. Everyone knows the Marines are only working outside the Kuiper belt. Another case of stolen valor.

U.S. Army Military Police, hands down.

1. Real world mission 24/7 at home, but most importantly we provide many essential capabilities to the maneuver commander. Smart Soldiers, great leaders, and exceptional NCOS. PLUS, More firepower in a combat support MP Company then a Light Infantry Battalion, More communications than signal company, and we don't have to walk.... and carry lots of ammo, food, and water.

2. So valuable, we are, the Army doubled the size of the MP Regiment after 911 (for war), and trained many others non-MP units to fill the remaining OPTEMPO shortfalls. You will rarely find a mission MPs are not a part of. Many times our Maneuver Commanders always want more.

1SG (Join to see) - Funny you say that... I remember in Somalia, a Colonel, negotiator who came from the NSA, reminded me of Colonel Kurtz, climbed into one of our trucks (we were escorting him by ground and air) and he was amazed at the massive combat power of a MP squad...

COL Charles Williams Even worse, most combat commanders don't know how to properly utilize us (hence MP has become Multi-Purpose).

1SG (Join to see) - That is what guys like you have to be able to explain... but, luckily, in least in my experience, our MP Squads do the talking by their actions.

So you ride on a missile and repair it....in flight? Not sure that is a great career choice. Also would that not make it a rocket?
