In your opinion, what is the coolest (hip, awesome) job in the United States military? Why is it the coolest?

All we all know being a Military Working Dog Handler is the best job. Where else can you go to work and have the best friend in the world with you.

Sitting behind computers! Definitely doing all the online classes :-)

It is different for everyone. I enjoy helping my Soldiers and other Soldiers, so any job that allows me to interact and support them is a good one.

Why EOD of course! What a silly question!! You get to do the most bestest (yes I know it isn't a word!) thing in the world, BLOW SHIT UP! The next day you are doing a VIPP trip for the Secret Service or State Dept in support of any number of heads of state or POTUS. The next day you can be training to safe a nuke. The next day you can assist the BATFE or local /state/federal law enforcement in disposition of a VBIED or subsequent post blast. The next day you can cash your $20,000 re-enlistment bonus. The next day can do a 33 day White House protective TDY/TAD. The next 6-8 months you can deploy support and support a sister service military unit doing route clearance, post-blast, UXO and enemy cache or IED render safe and/or disposal. Or you can be briefing a 4 Star on your mission and why EOD kicks ass. Like they don't already know. Then you can pick which EOD Groupie you want to entertain for the day. The list of "Cool" stuff goes on and on. See your local In-Service recruiter!! LOL :-)

Being an avionics tech isn't all that sexy, but being able to tell a prima donna pilot his plane was down while he was begging to get his flight hours for the month after spending most of it golfing was quite a rush.

Unless that prima donna pilot happens to be the wing commander hovering over you while performing a calibration on a test set that has several thousand volts passing through it, then it's frickin awesome.

I would have to go with Warthog pilot or gunship crew. The Gatling gun is the coolest weapon system going.

EOD would be a close second. Love things that go bump in the night.

3E5 - Engineering Assistant - drafting, surveying, construction management. The experience is priceless and translates well into a civilian job.

I agree with the others. There are many. My personal favorite is Helicopter Flight Engineer for AFSOC.
