It was a time that my family was struggling and we were very low on groceries. I was doing the best I could to support my little family, but it wasn't enough. One evening, I think it was around Christmas time, I heard a knock on our door and to my utter surprise, there was a very large basket of groceries sitting on our porch. This was a blessing to my family and to this day, over 25 years ago, I still do not know who placed this precious gift at my door.
Many years later we had a family living across the street from us, and they were also in dire straights and it was around Christmas time. I recognized this and asked my family if we could donate our gifts to this family. They all responded quite enthusiastically and we boxed up the gifts in a big box and dropped it off at their door when they happened to be away for the afternoon. It was heart warming to see all the kids so excited to help others in need. This was our pay it forward to this family.

Knowing I was going through a hard time mentally and physically, my Mom put her life on hold to make sure I was okay and that I was safe. Traveling across the country to spend time with me and help take care of my household when I couldn’t.

Gave me their first class ticket when I was flying home on leave. During my layover, someone paid my tab at the restaurant
Once I boarded the plane after my layover, I was given a first class ticket again

The most thoughtful thing someone has done for me was to put me in touch with VCHC in Ballston Spa NY and help me get back on my feet when I became homeless and was literally living in my car.
I didn't know where else to turn and without the help and support of this amazing and caring organization for homeless veterans I'm not sure where I would be today. Thank you for giving me back my dignity and my life. Forever grateful. June Rose

Gave me their 1st class ticket on the plane and sat in coach seat on airplane when I was flying home on leave. Also, same flight, passed out on a gentleman’s shoulder and he let me sleep on his shoulder until I woke up.

"my", is supposed to be "me"
But the lesson I learned was that it doesn't take a lot to make someone's day better. I was still tired from the 1,000+ mile drive home, and her big smile and very kind comment made my day so much better. Just to be welcomed home like that by a neighbor, a friend, can make a big difference in someones life. We all are dealing with a lot right now, and she has recently had a stroke, has every reason to be down, but got her self up so much that it appeared to be sheer excitement and joy that I was back home. So a smile, a sincere friendly compliment, even to those you think have it all, or that you know are experiencing hardship... need an encouraging word today.

I was in a restaurant wearing my Navy ships hat. When I tried to pay for my meal I was told it was taken care of. When I asked who did that the waitress pointed out a table with two young men, probably in their early 20's. A lot of emotions hit me all at once when I walked by and thanked them and they said "thank you for your service". The fact that such young men would do that for me, I am 75, impressed me and gave me a whole new perspective on the younger generations. I answered with my usual "Thank you, it was my honor". Those young men made my day, month and year.
