What's the nicest, most beautiful family camping area you've experienced on a military installation?

No matter where you go on those routes, take time to see the "little things" It will be a great trip, unless you try to make it in the posted times! I don't Camp unless you count Hampton Inns, but I can tell you there are many sights to see on those routes, some are well known Natural things like caves, canyons, and cascades. Others like the tiny Wizard of Oz museum in Kansas, or the giant excavation machine in Pittsboro KS, where sixty people get in a bucket, get lifted fifty feet in the air, and have a wedding.
or stopping at Graceland, or Beal Street, or the old Route Sixty Six parts coming out of California into AZ...and picking it up again in St. Louis. So much to see. Have a blast stay safe, and don't drive at night if you don't have to.

The only camping I ever did on a military installation was at vandenberg. A mountain lion ate my toothpaste while I was away fishing. But other than that the area reminded me of the camping I did with my family as a kid.

TSgt Melissa Post - Melissa, how comfortable are you with the outdoors that allows you to casually say: " A mountain lion ate my toothpaste while I was away fishing." If I came back and discovered that, we would have to clean my pants, andwe would be in a Marriott within the hour. LOL

SGT Kevin Hughes - LOL well I mean I saw the signs that said "Caution: Mountain Lions are in this area." and I wasn't at the site when it happened. But when I returned it was no longer on the picnic table and it had some pretty sharp teeth marks through it. Somewhere out there, there is now a mountain lion with the freshest minty breath. Well maybe not anymore but back then hahaha.

Might need to factor in a few more days for travel, but maybe it's worth the detour...
