So person "X" grew up living with parents in the military. "X" moved a lot from base to base. Person "Y" understands and "accepts" person "X" as being a military family member. Now person "Z" grows up living with their retired war vet grandpa, grandma & dad while never seeing mom who is serving in the military. Person "Z" also has 2 half siblings in the military, several uncles and a step dad as well as many other family members in the military. Person "Y" does not accept person "Z" is considered military family.

Why would person "Z" possibly care what person "Y's" definition of military family is or is not? You can pick your friends, you can pick you nose; but you can't pick your family. Judge a person based on their merits, not the merits of their family members.

f(x) = z^x. Notice how y can be used as a point on the resulting curve of the trajectory of Z. Now move past it, Jessica Adams Capt Daniel Goodman Sgt (Join to see) MSgt Walter Clack Maj John Bell SGT (Join to see) SFC (Join to see) Notice how many elements of X fit into the domain of Z. You never had to solve for y. Have a good military evening to you.

Had to read this a couple of times in order to sorta understand. Bottom line is the line is very fuzzy depending on your beliefs, situations, etc, etc. There are no quote rules governing this. My brother was in the Army for 4 years. He died in a car crash a short time later, his three children have no real memory of it. Although most, me included, would consider them a military family, however they themselves do not. May I suggestion "Z" not worry about how "Y" feels about their situation.
