There are a ton of great songs about military life, that reference the military in some way; some of the more modern works may have a video associated with it, and some of the older classics continue to define the military experience to this day. From country to rock, ballads & pop, to more traditional flavors--did a particular song inspire, educate, or simply strike a chord with you? Please feel free to share any inspiring military-related music, any music or songs that makes you think of/or reminds you of your military service, as well as any links, photos, descriptions or anything that helps you tell your story. The idea here is to have a fun and thought provoking discussion, which will be fun, informative, and provide a means to tell our stories... and to learn about one another as well as our sister services in the process. Wishing you all the best, I look forward to hearing from you, and interacting with you all in the threads!

"The Ballad of the Green Berets". I grew up with that song as my Dad spent 29 years on AD with SF.

The first one to come to mind was Battle Hymn of the Republic. It's probably my favorite as well.
I know that's pretty old school...I wasn't even around yet when it was popular. Lol.

LTC Burns, For 16 weeks of Basic, 'Stars and Stripes Forever" was on every loud speaker @ Camp San Luis Obispo for hours after Reville, at lunch and before Retreat. To help my memory, it is now my cell's ringtone.

I can tell you one that I can go the rest of my life without ever hearing again: Lee Greenwood's "Proud to Be an American." So, so horribly over played. Every single retirement/promotion/formation above battalion level. I have PTSD from that song.

Saving Abel put out a song called Miss America off of their Miss America CD. This song resonates true to me as I am the grandson of the soldier, the son of a soldier, a retired soldier, and now the father of a soldier. The lyrics strike a chord in me and brings tears to my eyes it is time I hear it.
