I find a good book by a literary author and read it. I try to follow this with a visit with one of my grandchildren. The visit requires me to get away from home and travel to their home.

A hike in the mountains. It allows me to ponder on every day stressors and then to release them into nature and to reflect on all that I am grateful for and how blessed I really am.

I am now disabled due to strokes. I have vascular dementia and my head is in a constant state of “dizziness “ like after spinning around and around and around. I no longer get to do many things I loved. I was an over the road trucker, but I cant even drive anymore. I LOVED to cook, but I’m not allowed to without supervision. So, when I get down, agitated, or just need some space, I will ask my daughter to take me fishing. I grew up on the river, and it’s just in my blood. Sitting out there by a lake, under a tree, with a breeze blowing, and a line in the water is just peaceful to me. It reminds me of good old times, and puts me in a better state of mind. Plus, my daughter is more lenient than the boys because she hates to fish. So she doesn’t really even bother me while I’m out there.

Grab my coffee and go sit outside. That’s my daily moment of peace. But my favorite place to go to completely wind down…is the beach!

Start your day reading the Bible for a period of time and increase with a goal of the entire Bible. Then start over. Add some prayer time. I gave up sleep to start my day in the right frame of mind. Thirty-two years later & I'm still going into each day with a relaxed joy and purpose. I served on Active Duty from 1971-2003.

I have been out of the Military for many many years BUT I learned while in and continue to use exercise as way of dealing with resetting my mental health. Exercise helps me ONLY focus on the immediate goal at hand and once done, those endorphins start kicking in. Yoga/Pilates works very well for me
