Hello Community,
I am currently in the process of reclassing from my current MOS. Though I am completely fine with this, there is something that is beckons me and always have: Being a Drill Sergeant.
I love scuffing up joe (for the purpose of strengthing mentally , physically, and emotionally and correcting only), I love the connections with soldiers, I don't mind working long hours at all because I already do, and I love seeing the transition from Joehood to Brohood because we all been through it. What's your information that you would pass on? What's are some "life lessons" you would give and experiences while on the trail?
Current or former, doesn't matter.
Thank you Members of RallyPoint.

Thank you for this. "Scuffing up joe" is just another term for corrective training i.e. pushups for an extended period of time

Sgt Brandon,
Historically speaking only 1% of the total army gets selected to be a drill sgt, if the main reason for you to become a drill sgt is to "scuff up joe", I suggest you seek a different career advancement path. As a drill sgt you are expected to wear many hats, "Scoffing up joe" is not even one of them. As mentioned on several post, do some research and you will find out that is one of the most rewarding tittle bestowed upon an nco, trusted to teach, guide, heal and mold today's warriors. Most importantly, we are talking about human beings. You will have to earn the trust and respect not just from your soldiers, but from your peers as well.
Good Luck..
