This question is aimed at the Airborne, running and rucking community since I know knee issues are common, but anyone with any advice please feel free to answer...
Long story short is that I'm getting older and my knees are starting to feel it. Sometimes I'm walking and I get intense pain in my knees that cause me to limp. I've been eating "ranger candy" almost everyday in the past week and I'm scheduling a doctors visit to get it looked at. My guess is a lot of it has to do with footwear. What civilian shoes have been "prescribed" to you to address knee problems and/or alleviate knee pain? Not specifically running or rucking shoes, but just everyday shoes.

I can't help you with shoes, but my knees were toast after running up and down ladders on ships at sea. I started following Dr. Mandell on YT and a lot of his stuff works. Here is the one I used to fix my knees (Boswellia): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P64J5NwP85k

Actually not just your shoes but socks as well. First try the below, Thorlos are great and last a long time but these specific socks put the A in Awesome, plus you can take off your shoes and use them around the house with no shoes, very well built.......

CSM Charles Hayden - The old combat boots and wool socks were horrible. Blisters galore.

I typically wear Darn Tough but those are more for running, skiing and hiking.

CSM Charles Hayden - Yeah thorlos are expensive but the socks I highlighted I wear in my shoes, just sock footed around the house, etc, they wear and last and are very comfortable......worth the price.

SSG Carlos Madden - You can wear these for just everyday socks, I get the hiking because of the padding and they are tougher to wear out.

Each person's feet are different. https://stridewise.com/shoes-for-different-foot-types/ Wearing the wrong type of shoes can cause you pain in other joints like the knees

Wife got me Skechers, and they are not bad. Almost like no shoes, although not technically orthopedic. Light and washable. It seems to help my knees, and I have one that is a replacement candidate. Copperfit brace helps with stability. Not endorsing and I hold no position in either.

That’s what I went to. Researched ‘shoes for heavy men’. Went with recommended, which were Scetchers.

Sgt Larry Irvine - Mine were a gift, and they are comfortable. No ankle or overall support to speak of. More like slippers for casual and outdoor wear. The inner soles come in many varieties, and can improve fit.

I have 2 pair. One is like slippers almost. Mesh uppers and very flexible. I wear those at home and out and about. Other pair are more athletic shoe type, I wear those to work.CWO3 (Join to see)

Look at the Rockport line of shoes. Their World Tour Men's Classic Shoe is supposed to be good for bad knees.

Go to https://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us and take their quiz. I highly recommend brooks running shoes. I switched to Brooks in 2013 on advice from my squad leader and I have never bought another brand since!

This cool brand called water and a change of socks. Seriously though, I'll get you this CBD cream a couple of my buddies use, stuff is a game changer.

One COA is there might not be a solution except to protect your knees.

MAJ Ken Landgren - I've jumped off of my share of tanks and put some 105mm rounds down range out of the M60A3. Wasn't that bad of a gunner either.

Others have said what I'm going to say, but it bears repeating. Find yourself a sports medecine chiropractor. I was a hockey goalie for 20 years on top of an 11b\95b. The combination of thos activities left be with serious issues with my spinal allignment. Chiro is expensive, but worth it as they can help mitigate issues than can't be corrected by surgury. Also, go see a foot doctor. You may be having gait issues that perscription orthotics can help correct.
