My chapter packet has been at legal for almost a month now and I'm just wondering if anyone has recommendations on if there's anything I can do about it.

You are getting kicked out of the Army, you are the very lowest priority of work that your command and legal teams have in front of them

SFC (Join to see) is dead on.
Your packet status is tracked daily at the unit level, weekly at the BN level. That means the BN CMD team is told the status and has the opportunity to address it if they feel there is an issue with its progress, OR if the BN legal team chief is having an issue getting the unit to furnish a required correction or addition to the packet, it would be handled then as well.

It will run the process. It isn't a high priority task so it won't go screaming through the system. There isn't anything you can do at this point to expedite it.

I hate to tell you this, but your packet will take as long as it takes. I say this because of two reasons:
1) I have seen Soldiers that are on Permanent Party (done with Basic and AIT) getting chaptered for HT/WT failure and their packets had taken 6 months to 2 years (Soldier depending).
2) I have seen IET Soldiers take months for their chapter packet to be processed.
Sadly, you are not high on the priority list of getting your packet finished. It will get finished...just not in the timeframe you are wanting/hoping for. There are eyes on your packet....but it is not burning holes in the skulls of JAG to get it done.
So...to your initial question of what should you do: The answer is to keep waiting, keep working at whatever task(s) your Cadre has you doing and stay out of trouble.

Yep, if you do something else like if you het an Article 15, the process resets as they add that to your chapter.

PV2 (Join to see) None of what you have heard is wrong.
I can say for sure, an involuntary separation packet can be processed in 36 hours, for an SM that was incarcerated. I can say for sure an involuntary separation packet can be processed in 5 business days when it was important to myself and the commander.
And I can say, for all others, it was 2-3 month deal if we formatted the packet correctly, including all the required documents and the WANTED ones for the commander which is only known with experience with that commander and S1/G1 the packet processes through.

They will make you squirm and they will take there time while you wait for that chapter to go through . Better off finishing the rest of your time till you ets.

Go through your NCO support channel and ask the status of your chapter. Not much else you can do. I would bank the money you are getting. Transition is difficult and depending on your chapter, may be a while before you get a job. I would also make sure you get copies of all your medical records and start working on your VA disability.

No disrespect, but all of this information is available on the Internet.
If information is incomplete or incorrect, the entire packet is kicked back. Do your homework ahead of time and get as much of it right as you can. If you are doing all of the work yourself without help, wrong answer. Most states have state-funded officials that can help, and since they are not directly involved, a good person can make a huge difference.
