What should I do when the requirements and the location of my mobilization conflict with getting my college work done?

I just need opinions on this situation.
March 21st at 2AM, I got a text message from my FLL stating that I was being activated, okay cool.
The unit that I was supposed to report to was supposed to call me later that day.
They never did, so I told my FLL again and he said give it more time.
Eventually he told me to report to a unit today at 0800 that was 30 minutes away, cool.
For clarification, I do not have my drivers license yet.
I get there, hop in there formation, formation ends, and then I do some paperwork.
I finish up the paperwork and just chill until further instruction.
Well one of the people from my unit comes and he is from a different battery.
He says to us from that unit, that the commander of this unit here says that some of us are not needed right now.
I mean I have a job still and I still have college classes so I tell him that and the commander stated that I can leave and if they need me they will contact me.
I tell my FLL this just to keep him informed.
Well after being home for about 2 hours, he messages me and says report to this armory tomorrow at 1000.
Well this armory is two hours away and that's a big problem for me.
Since that commander said I was okay to go until they needed me, I cancelled my LOA with work and told them I would be in for my next shift.
Plus our college classes start back up in a few days, granted they are online.
I cannot see myself working state active duty two hours away all day and getting my college work done.

I do college with AMU and we are able to inform the teacher and or instructor of an issue as this and then go from there. They may freeze your enrollment or give extensions for however long you may need in this instance. They certainly just can't tell you too bad. I'd contact your teachers and inform them. Worst comes to worst all they can do is ask for verification and typically they don't even do that and still grant extensions or whatever flexibility is required. Duty calls man so they have to honor and abide that fact always.

PFC Justin Farrar duty started on the 23rd so I've been at it for a week. My NCO and Platoon SGT know that there was a miscommunication but since there is orders..I'm obligated.

PFC(P) Corey Hannen That is true. Have you already missed any assignments or college work? Also what college are you attending online, if I may ask.

PFC(P) Corey Hannen well shit. I'm not familiar with that college. It sounds like this happened very quickly with little notice. At this point, all you can do is just explain this to your college institution in hopes that maybe there can be a change in plans for you or a restart without payment because of duty. That's all I got. It would have worked way smoother if they were informed of this sooner but things are more difficult after things have been missed. For AMU they have an app on my phone and I can actually do school work from my phone. Not big assignments but weekly work. Comes in big handy for things like this
I did still complete two years of college while on active duty in the USAF, we were encouraged to go and most the courses I took at the Base Education center. Only once did something come up that would have interrupted class I was already attending I spoke to My NCOIC and got the result I hoped I would if that had not happened well there was no choice to to go on the TDY deployment which wasn't long anyway. I would suggest You make an effort to get Your drivers license and don't even think of not showing up to any orders for formations or deployment, that's NOT an option. On line or correspondence courses that don't require attendance should be able to be worked out anyway, that not impossible to complete. I attended formal classes Four days a week, (three classes) plus worked full time, played golf, swimming, was involved in off duty organizations and still had a social life. Budget Your time out, I did and had no problem with it and that was with 40 hours or more per week of Military duties included. It can be done, You have to adapt.
I may add also not showing up, later as a full time Civilian Police Officer I had gone with the Military Police to a private residence to take a National Guard troop into custody who did not show for an active duty tour. They were an AWOL apprehension team and is not something You want to happen. There is no option about showing up unless You are excused by a Military authority that has the authority to do so.

Well this issue was dealt with, I don't know how to mark it as solved.
They explained it further to me but I was basically voluntold because my sergeant thought I wanted to volunteer but I did not. It's all good though.

I did go on and finish My degree requirements and received a BS degree but a lot of other guys did also, it can be done. Communication is still key though, talk with You seniors there, they can't fix anything they don't even know is broken.

It's hard to balance school, work and military obligations. But that's kinda what we signed up for.
