Washington DC is renaming their football team. I've been seen some good suggestions in the press but I wanted to know what you all think. This is really just for fun so I thought the "Washington Swamp" would be fitting!

What do you think the new team name should be?

EDIT: Sorry in advance to all the DC football fans here. Regardless of a name change, your team will still be terrible. lol

I like suggestions for the "Washington Red Tails". A tribute to the incredible Tuskegee Airmen, and this helps keep the red/white design pattern so the change is minimized.

That should be reserved for an Alabama Team

SSG (Join to see) - I like the Redtails concept too but I agree that it should be for a team in Alabama.

Think they should be the Washington Congressionals. Their approval rating will match that of The Hill.

On a serious note I think something simple and universal that embodies the United States and the capitol city would be best. "Washington Union." Uniforms would be dark blue with gold piping.

I actually like the name Washington Monuments. What better way to show homage to our founding father.

Not a bad one either. I was thinking monuments as in all the monuments in DC, not just THE Washington Monument. "Monuments" may be a front runner in my book.

Washington Football Team. In fact all the teams should use this naming convention. Cleaveland foot ball team, Dallas football team, New England football team, etc.

Neutral ID. Will not offend anyone. Similar to Soccer teams. Changes the jerseys to Blue for home and green for away; or the home team gets blue and the visitors get green.

The name can't be related to "red, yellow, black or white"; can't be religious; sexist; and if PETA has it's way, can't refer to any type of animals; and most of all reflect the area of Washington, DC. Let me see. Ah, How... No Ah, maybe the Washington Repucrats or the Marauders of Washington.

PETA is against naming teams after animals? I didn't know that.
