I hear you! As a published author and blogger and military movie buff, I agree. My experience tells me that goals and expectations need to be up front. Define rolls and be prepared to be flexible. Patience is also a virtue, but at a premium when deadlines need to be met and time is short. Everyone needs to check their ego at the door and take nothing personal. The goal is an excellent product, so stay focused on that. The writer is often more art than science and the editor more science than art! The editor should seek to preserve the Author's tone and point of view without sacrificing clarity and efficiency. The writer should seek clarity and efficiency without sacrificing their uniqueness and passion. And of course, writers need to stay in their lane! Best of luck! Hooah!

I usually write about Behavioral Health issues so I try to stay focused on my field of expertise. I've read a couple of service memebers posts that sound out of their element and this can give a false idea of what we really experience. That's why we have trouble watching movies related to military themes; we immediately recognize how wrong they are about what we do.

Can you relate your response to the original question more directly? Seems like you're speaking more about the original writer writing about a personal experience as if it applies to everyone.
