Leave the names the same. No change. Our military needs to focus on war training…not “government sanctioned social change”.

It has been directed but it hasn't been funded yet. So no idea when anything will change.
I agree with what GEN Brooks said at an AUSA mentorship session.
Name them after the location they are at. Public perception of people changes all the time and anyone can fall victim of judgement over time.

Umm leave them as they are. It is all American History. The good, bad and ugly.

Don’t do it!!! There is nothing wrong with the names! Quit letting ignorant, racist whining dictate removing the historical names!!!

CSM Bob Stanek - Be careful, CSM! From what I've noticed in this comment thread, if you don't actually state that you're using humour they'll "ass"-ume that you're attacking their beliefs. LMFAO

CPL James S. - 100% agree with you there. Guess they didn't take the military class on developing THICK SKIN!. Add that to the requirement that to comment on this blog, you need to have your COVID VACCINATION and all TEN BOOSTERS TOO. GO FIGURE!!!

CPL James S. - Thanks for your front-line first responder work. I'm retired being a cop and now work only bailiff and security duty for a county government courthouse center a couple days a week now. But the same old "wow, where did that guy come from" people still show up and you just wonder if they ever went to any class on common sense as it looks like it passed over quite a few people. It's a commodity that appears to have been lost with the younger generation for sure.

CSM Bob Stanek - and Thank you for your continued efforts because being a bailiff isn't necessarily the safest profession. I'm also retired, but not by choice.
I often wonder about the common sense thing myself. Some things used to be taught in school but aren't anymore and sometimes I wonder if that isn't the start of it? Things like: how to do your taxes; how to change your own oil; how to cook; how to make change (this one still gets me - I've sat at a register and waited 10 minutes for a manager because I dared to give extra change to get a bill back! LOL)

Just being honest Ima black male to me it doesn’t matter with the bases. I mean I’d like to see more do one for Audie Murphy, Colin Powell, Henry Flipper. renaming army installations is a no go for me, but you can rename my sister services installations tho lol.

There was one General who served in both the CSA and Union Armies, General Joe Wheeler. He served in the Civil War on the side of the South and then in the US Army in the Spanish American War in Cuba. After the Spanish American War, he was quite proud of his blue General's uniform and went to his West Point Class reunion. Two former Confederate class mates were seated at a table outside of the meeting place. One looked at Joe Wheeler and said "I want to be at the Gates of Hell when you show up in that blue uniform." Rename one of those Forts after him.
