Doesn't matter if you agree with this move or not - it's been directed and it's happening. What are your suggestions for renaming the following bases?

- Fort Bragg
- Fort Rucker
- Fort Benning
- Fort Gordon
- Fort Hood
- Fort Polk
- Fort A.P. Hill
- Fort Belvoir
- Fort Lee
- Fort Pickett

The WOKE leadership can do as they please but as far as I am concerned these bases will always be referred to by me and my family as they have always been named. Confederate soldiers and sailors have been declared US Veterans by an Act of Congress and therefore, the names should not be changed. Another way for the WOKE leadership to divide the nation. SAD, but reversable when a new leadership takes office in 2024 and the wokesters in DoD are gone.

How ignorant! DOD is not staffed with a bunch of knot-heads who have no sense of history. In you idiots did not know(look this up) ALL confederate soldiers were decreed, by Congress, to be AMERICAN veterans. So, why are you renaming these posts?????

Don't mess with what is not broken. Problem with government, always justifying reason for higher budget means doing what does not need to be done.

You can’t or shouldn’t try to rewrite History. No matter which side the person in question was on, they were all Americans. These bases were named to Honor their name and their part in the history of the United States. “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat It”. You can erase history and expect the world to be better for it. As the quote says You have to learn from it! All the bases mentioned will always be the same to me no matter what some politicians or special interest groups want them to be.

I have no suggestions. Guaran-damn-teed that even if the bases get renamed, there are veterans and family alive NOW that won't let these names go away.

Despite what some of the young people want to think, history is history and it cannot be erased. While I do not support Confederate values I am descendent of Irish slaves), let me remind everyone the Confederates ARE American; then and now. We had enough sense back when these great military bases were named to recognize that fact.

I am personally getting sick of the "cancel culture". It reminds me of the two year old sticking their fingers in their ears because they do not want to hear the truth.

As someone who has an ancestor on a memorial in my Parents' hometown for those who didn't come back from the Civil War, I am all for seeing those bases names changed. Over 1523 Medals of Honor were given in the Civil War. Any reason we can't pick some of those recipients to have a base named after? Also there are some Founding Fathers who I can think of who could meet the criteria.
