Doesn't matter if you agree with this move or not - it's been directed and it's happening. What are your suggestions for renaming the following bases?

- Fort Bragg
- Fort Rucker
- Fort Benning
- Fort Gordon
- Fort Hood
- Fort Polk
- Fort A.P. Hill
- Fort Belvoir
- Fort Lee
- Fort Pickett

It's amazing and sad how easily the new generation tends to roll over and readily excepts changes thinking objections wouldn't be heard and mandates changed. News flash - they can

Doesnt matter if its been directed or not citizens still have a right to their opinion. The Confederates were Americans (also by goovernment edict) and the bases were named in honor of their leadership, dedication and knowledge of battlefield tactics. Modern militery commanders could only dream of having their troops respect them enough to follow them into battle against a far superior force and certain death.

I agree, we should not change history. We need to understand and learn from our past. And hope that are future generations correct our future. We should not give in too groups of people that want to change history.

What can you say. What will a name change do? Why do some people ( mostly non-military ) think that this matter needs all this attention? We talk about waste and the country having such a large deficit and we take on this issue. It's time the government starts to be productive on solving real problems!

Leave it alone as many of us Americans had Ancestors who served on both sides. Mother's side where Yankees and my father's side Southern. One lost a Leg who fought for the North and the other lost an arm From the Confederate side. LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!!

This entire exercise seems right out of George Orwell's "1984", written in 1949, warning us about the dangers of authoritarianism. The rewriting of history to suit current political fashion is likely emblematic of our decline as a nation. Of course it doesn't matter whether I agree with this policy or not, or what names I would suggest. I will not be surprised if every name selected is one which will honor Black, Hispanic, Native American of female notables of the past, maybe with a gay or lesbian figure thrown into the mix. Or possibly we will end up with Fort Karl Marx, Fort Vladimir Lenin, or Fort Barack Hussein Obama.

Strange the same generation in the name of being woke spend all this money to go overseas to see the Roman coliseum. Yet they want to tear down our history because it offends them.

No matter what you name them, some group is going to get offended. Why not just call them US Army base #1 and Air Force Base #1 or Joint Base Alpha. Or just give them a Zip Code designator. That's the only way you can really keep it neutral. Because nowadays the move is to name things after Civil Rights leaders or Presidents. Who is that going to piss off?

The States because United States after the Civil War. If we erase the past, how will our future generations learn and grow. Leave the statues alone, the Forts alone, The Cities alone. Because when you start changing one item. You have to change others and no one will learn from the mistakes that were made.
