How about we re name them to woke names
Fort Bragg = Fort pro noun
Fort Rucker = Fort Bottoms Surgery
Fort Benning = Fort inclusive
Fort Gordon = Fort Feelings Matter
Fort Hood = Fort Gay Pride
Fort Polk = Fort Non binary
Fort A.P.Hill = Fort harmones rage
Fort Belvoir = Fort Safe Spaces
Fort Lee = Fort Clinton oh no wait , wasn't Clinton a confederat slave holder , so no go there....
Fort Picket = Fort we give up don't hurt us please.
Name them any thing you want , at this point in time most veterans are sick and tired of the woke bullshit , and command wonders why folks will not re -up and no one will join up .
have fun trying to fight and win a war with the crap you are promoting .

In twenty years or so there be those who will want to change the new names also. History is what it is. Leave it alone. We have been too eager to try to erase it. Its not going anywhere. Each generation has its prejudices. Bases, ships, streets etc have been renamed. Statues torn down or removed. Sports teams renamed. Will we be removing George Washington, and Thomas Jeffersons name and face because they owned slaves.

Stop rewriting history! Stop naming things after people. Someone will come along and claim that person is a racist or something else. All the money wasted in renaming things could be put to better use in helping veterans.

The bases I was stationed at had historical information pamphlets so loosing the history, good or bad, shouldn’t be a concern. As to renaming bases why aren’t all bases renamed after 100 years? New bases are rarely built and heroes are born every war. Added to that I t would give those REMFs something to make them feel important that isn’t writing new bs regulations or debating tattoo policy lol.

I suggest that those people in charge read history and leave the names alone. We are sending the wrong message to our future generations by changing them and eliminating things that remind us that our nation's history is rich and sometimes not what we would have liked reading about. But it is our nation's history and we should not destroy it.

well how about naming bases/forts after states or cities. exp fort albany, fort north carolina, there's enough states and cities too go around and no conflcts. But I agree leave well enough alone.

I find it interesting that military members especially keep making the ignorant claim that it's an attempt to erase history. They were named for enemies and traitors. It's not "erasing history" nobody's trying to say those losers didn't exist they just don't deserve installations to be named in their honor so quit crying.

CPO Melvin Miller
So why isn't George Washington and Thomas Jefferson along with our founding fathers names on so many things. They also were traitors.

I personally don't understand what the big deal is and why do you want to change the names of some of these bases. I get what is going on in the world but however the names of these bases were created and occupied for hundreds of years before me you and another person went on those bases. I get what the names represent on one side but you also have to understand and take into consideration that those Generals were also apart of history. Good, right or ugly that is still history. I feel as though by changing the name you are taking away history and leaving out the other side of history in which you need both sides to in order to understand the meaning. There has to be a way to take both sides and combine them together and at least 1% of the people would be happy. What happened in the past is the past. Myself or you ca not change that. what we can go is change for the future and come together, work together, laugh and cry together and show that whatever the name is on a bases we are still family at the end of the day

If we earse our past history we are doomed to forget it. Our past reminds of what we did wrong and what we got right. In order to go forward we must remember and not repeat what we got wrong. This nation is not perfect but it's my nation. I will defend it until my last day. I do not run and hide from my past, I look back and see where I needed to change to better myself. This country should do the same. Don't run, don't try to change, and never forget the past for you are doomed to repeat it.
