Do not see any wrong in naming military bases after Confederate. After all, they were USA citizens just as any other who served. Civil Wars occur in other nations besides USA when taking consideration based on changes in society resulting in conflicts. Yet, USA based its foundation on different views when looking at the bigger picture and that of today.

My suggestion for renaming is simple - don't do it. The Civil War was fought by Americans against other Americans; someone had to lose. These men were on the losing side, but they remain notable Americans.

Not only do I disagree. I think your going to find out that the new administration is going to put a stop to this non-sense.

One word....DON'T. This reflects the brilliance of our current CnC....thankfully for less than 3 more weeks!!!

I have a suggestion, leave the names alone. Save that Billion dollars (or however much it was) and put it to good use. Update barracks, chow halls, etc. They've been named that for over 100 years and now's a good time to rename them? Seems nobody complained until very recently

Renaming the bases is pretty stupid and supported by spineless leaders who have no appreciation of history. As a former DPW, I can tell you the cost of doing this was in the millions and our idiotic congress ensured that the DoD put that at the top of the list, which meant remediating mold in barracks, military construction, routine maintenance, was put on back burner. So....Soldiers lose because of dumb decisions.

None. They're fine as they are. Everything does not need to be "fixed". They're honored because of military strategies or wars/battles won. Not everything is about race.

I find these name changes utterly repugnant. I will always refer to the Forts as they were before the 2023 name changes. I absolutely refuse to call them by their new names. I and a buddy stationed at Fort Benning during our careers recently spent a week there on vacation for the 40th anniversary of the 3rd Ranger Battalion of which he was an original member. Whenever we talked to anyone, it was only referred to as Fort Benning, and that is what it will always be!
