Hello, Although its plausible, with all due respect I feel in todays struggles with PTSD and the abuse of disability funding, considering the actual cost of renaming anything already established is astounding which makes the idea of such irresponsible. Have a look at the cost of changing the label/branding of the the United States Air Force to the United States Space Force. Nothing but ridicules. Truly legislation should be developed to restructure allocation funding to resin and channel it toward the real brass tacks bottomline heath and healthy focused rehabilitation for our struggling disabled and homeless veterans and to stop the irresponsible programs now in place such as medicating the issues in place of healing programs.

Well....I honestly don't have any. Just because its happening doesn't mean its right. Acceptance doesn't mean approval. That's all.

As for "Ft Rucker", I can't think of a better "re-naming" than "Fort Novosel"! He was a gallant,
fearless, "modern era" aviator who brought great credit to Army Aviation. So tell me again, what did "Rucker" bring to the table? I agree with another contributor, rename all the posts in contention with the names of MOH recipients, aligned with branch where ever possible. How about Audy Murphy for Bragg?

Those bases were named after Confederate generals to appease the South. It was an act of conciliation. However, ALL of those generals were traitors. I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution - not to support a rebellion. Those bases should absolutely NOT be named after traitors who violated their oath. To rename them is to correct a wrong.

Oh Ernest, as a LTC, you should have better analytical skills. You have reduced a very complex issue into a false black and white (no pun intended). It is VERY questionable, whether the South had a right to secede. Is the USA the Mafia? My perspective is that, if not for the immoral issue of slavery, the South should have been allowed to secede. BECAUSE of slavery (which many southern apologists REFUSE to admit was the main issue), Lincoln did the right thing by fighting their departure. Regardless, when the question is asked, why can the Federal government do so many unconstitutional things, the simple answer is, because the North won the Civil war. I do believe that, had Lincoln not be assassinated, he wold have aggressively reset the Constitutional limits. Sadly, he was not given the chance.
