Those bases were given those names at a time when the raw feelings of those names were more fresh. If they could "stomach" the names back then, certainly we should be able to live with them now. The whole idea seems hypocritical. A certain faction of our citizenry wants to change names they feel are offensive, but totally ignore the one name that represents the "glue" that held all of that hate together - Democrat, as in the Democratic Party. The naysayers will claim the Democratic Party is NOT the same because of change. True! But the soldiers, whose names are regarded as offensive, have actually died! I tend to think "dying" trumps "change" every time!

Personally I wouldn't submit to the Leftist Woke idiots that are attempting to destroy our history! As a former Paratrooper; Ranger and, Special Forces troop Ft. Benning and Ft. Bragg will NEVER be referred to by any other name!
John F. Kennedy and family were criminals yet, I will always call the JFKSWC&S JFK!

I can't understand any of this political correct stuff. Took Basic at Fort Jackson, March 1967 AIT at Fort Polk. June 1967. Like it or not the Civil War is part of our country's history.

Leave them alone because it won’t really matter at all. Veterans who served at these installations will still call them Bennington, Bragg, etc.

I think we should search long and hard for someone worthy of having a base named after them that has the exact same last name as the post already has. That way, it would still be Fort Bragg, but named after a different Bragg for example!
