Hey all, does anyone know the process and benefits to making your parent your secondary spouse? Does it not qualify if you have a husband and child already as your dependent? I’m looking into making my mother my secondary dependent as she has no income and no place to live. Help? Any advice would help!

SPC (Join to see) - I am not, sorry. I just know that if the link does not provide the proper info then reach out to your S1 and Finance (fingers crossed) to get accurate info

I would still talk with your Personnel Officer, I'm sure he/she will assist. So far as benefis go, your mother would get an ID card, medical care, and be eligible to shop at PX and Commissary as well as any other dependent privileges. She would also rate her own room in government housing.

Talk with a social services advocate at the base they could give you the parameters for achieving the goal of making her your dependent..

Basically, you have to prove that you provide more than 50% of their financial support.

SPC (Join to see) you don't have what office at Bragg?? There's definitely a finance and DEERS office at the SSC. The means test has all the information. You'll have to talk to DEERS and finance about the application.

I did!! I was just at deers the other day and I asked her and that’s what she said she said we don’t have an office here and everything is submitted online, I wouldn’t know what office since yeah it’s sumbitted to DFAS but I asked because you aren’t the only one who said to go to deers and I went and got nowhere. I’m pissed now SFC (Join to see)
