I am a paid up for life member of the American Legion and the National Executive Officer of the U.S.Army Brotherhood Of Tankers (USABOT). I belong to American Cold War Veterans and used to belong to AMVETS. I joined to associate with other veterans and help other veterans who are in need.

None....have not been able to find one I want to join in Fayetteville.  If anyone knows of any that are not just purely volunteer organizations please PM me I'd love to check them out.

American Legion. Originally because a local commander invited me to stop by for a cup of coffee. Since then (16 years ago) I changed posts and have been Post Commander the past 5 years. I have learned about all the great programs sponsored by the American Legion and about the lobbyists in Washington. No other organization does as much from what I've seen....

I joined VFW and the Legion to help further veteran rights awareness in general, DAV to help VA Disability awareness, FRA for Navy veteran rights, and CVMA (Combat Vets Motorcycle Association) because I wanted to hang out and ride motorcycles with other veterans as well as helping local homeless vets (my chapter's primary mission).

Almost joined the VFW, well I paid for it but the membership card never came in the mail and I never went to a meeting. I joined the National Guard after 7 years in the Army. That has been a great veterans group

I joined the DAV when I was filing my VA claims, and they helped me out a great deal. Currently, I'm not active in any organizations since my husband is still AD and we are overseas. However, I plan to to get involved with as many as I can once we return to the States, whenever that may be.

You'll be a great addition. We had a couple that both served in World War II. She actually served in the China-India-Burma Theater and we share the same birthday so it was a race every year to see who would call who first. Sadly, she passed away 5 years ago but she is burke at the VFW Post 1 plot at a local cemetery. Now I go out with her husband, who's still in the Post and serves as the Chaplain every year and put flower out. I'm pretty proud that she was the first woman to join the Post. It's a shame that it took so long for the VFW to allow women to become members but as soon as they did, she joined. I say all this as it will be great to have both you and your husband in a Vet organization.

SSG Izzy Abbass thank you, and I am equally excited to get more involved, and hopefully make at least a fraction of the impact you and your group are making! So sorry for your loss. It is wonderful that you've made such close connections, and that you and her husband are able to share in honoring her life.

None. I haven't been approached by any veteran organization since retiring from the military. Probably why I am not a member of any.

I have been a member of the American Legion for about 25 years because they sponsor
Many events not only for veterans but for kids

Join nearly 2 million former and current members of the US military, just like you.
