I'm working on the possible impact of inadvertent selective breeding on the African slave and free-African population in the USA and from 1640 to modern time being potential root causes for today's "African American Experience." It's a combination of genetics and sociology, and the data is looking very promising - though, if the hypotheses are supported, I may end up on some watch lists...
This evolved from a 10 page paper for a class to a Thesis, and now to my Dissertation. I'm doing this before I take a single PhD course... which may lead to some interesting conversations with advisors.

I'm currently writing my doctoral dissertation now - focused on IT project managers (PM) and what/if PM leadership factors impact project success. The most difficult part of the dissertation is getting IT organizations to participate. My area of concentration is organizational leadership.

I know it's hard getting folks to participate. I found my best luck by going right to the top, promising them total anonymity as an organization, but promising them some feedback they could use to help improve the leadership climate and skills within their own organizations. That's hard for people to resist, because they could all use better leadership in their organizations. One CIO might be able to give you leads or intros to others, too, through CIO councils or other groups they may participate in.
