Fort Huachuca AZ has some great weather and great places to ride motorcycles. They have a great VFW in Sierra Vista also.

I'm a 22-year MI soldier who has never been stationed at Ft. Huachuca. Been TDY there many, many times. Was stationed at Devens twice when it was still the USASA Training Center and School. Never wanted to go there, though, just because I didn't want another TRADOC assignment - one was enough!

Any place I was in Vietnam. LZS without running water, real toilets, non stop monsoon rains and billions of mosquitos munching on me.

I was at Bitburg AFB Germany and loved it. My dad was at Spangdahlem in 1962. I was at Bitburg '86-'89. We used to go to Spang. a lot.

It's what you make out of it. You could make it boring or fun everything depends on your attitude

Best duty station was Germany, did 2 tours one in Friedberg the other in Grafenwoehr, so much to do and see in Europe. Worst was Ft Stewart Ga. this was back in the early 80s and Hinesville was out after the GIs Dollar. Had the worst Section Chief, all he wanted was PCS Orders.

Can't say I've had a bad duty station. Ft Campbell, Ft Lewis, Hawaii, Ft Sam houston, and Ft Carson; the only I haven't enjoyed is 3/4 at carson.

Fort Campbell was just OK.. Did not Hate it but was not my Favorite either.. Loved that it was a Mission Base, always felt you are doing something not just Practicing.

I've been at Ft Campbell for 5 years now, I like the base, it's really nice. The Clarksville/Hopkinsville area are pretty nice too.

There's a steakhouse on the main drag, if you go out any of the main gates and head east on the main drag and go out of town maybe a mile, maybe less maybe more, I just can't recall, and it's on the right side of the road. Was outside of town kind of off by itself. Used to have a plywood cow on the roof, but someone said it might be down on the ground in front of the restaurant now. I've been TDY there two times and went to this place 4 times because I couldn't believe how good it was. The filet mignon soaked in garlic butter with a huge baked potato are so good they will make you want to slap your grandma.

I like Ft Sill, Korea, and Germany was a lot of fun,,, people would probably like more places if they would do more than spend all of their money getting drunk in the barracks. Can't get out and see the place if you're hanging over your toilet bowls.

I heard so many stories from Korea. They tell you all the good stuff that happen in their experience but I prefer to hear the BAD ONES!

SPC Kay, the biggest problem I had with Korea, was that Soldiers created so many problems and the COC made us pretty much baby sit them to keep them out of trouble. As a 34 yr old SSG with 15 +/- years in, I had to have a battle buddy to sign out of the barracks and go 50 ft to the restaurant / club right next to our barracks. Instead of punishing the SM for their actions, they would try to find a way to hold an NCO responsible. Good example. I was on rear-d about to fly home on PCS orders and the BN was in the field. We had a new SM to the BTRY and we were released for the weekend. This guy goes down town and gets wasted. On his way back the cabbie is driving fast and erratic (like they do) and he was telling the cabbie to slow down, and of course he didn't. So this idiot DONKEY PUNCHES the cab driver in the back of the head... Korean police arrest him at the gate and he starts kicking and tearing up their police car. When the unit finds out about it, they RELIEVED HIS NCO, who WAS IN THE FIELD. How in the hell can they justify that? Oh, because IT WASNT IN HIS COUNSELING to NOT donkey punch a cab driver... WTF? So yeah,,, Joe and the COC was my biggest problem over there.
