What would the chances be of my getting out after this contract and re-entering as an 11B with RASP?

So I’m in a situation and wondering the best route to take. I am currently a 19K and have 4 years left on this contract. I want to serve in a ranger regiment as an 11B. The issue is my MOS espescialy at my grade has always been under strength. Therefore reclassing is out the window. What would the chances be of me getting after this contract and re enter as an 11B with RASP?

Sorry, but that's a terrible idea.
Go to Ranger School and get your tab. After that, it's a 4187 to switch to 11B. It's at the top of the In/Out calls message. Ranger qualified E5 non promotable may Reclass into 11B without training regardless of MOS strengths.

My only concern about this advice would be the number of Ranger slots available in 1st Armor. A quick looks had 35 for 2016. I wouldn't have a clue on how these are allotted inside the Division. Even in Infantry Divisions outside of the 82nd, 101st, 10th and 25th, the number of slots to Ranger school are usually in that 25-35 a year category.

CPT Lawrence Cable for most schools that would usually be an issue, but Ranger school doesn't really care. It's open to all MOS's as long as your unit will send you.
They don't dedicate slots like a normal school. People show up and whoever makes it through RAP week, is in the course.
At least, that's what it looked like to me. I worked in Florida so I was never part of the initial inprocessing, but I know for a fact that more people show up to the first day than there are slots.

SSG (Join to see) Listen to what SFC (Join to see) said and take some time to plan your next move. I would strongly suggest you to start setting in stone what you want for the rest of your career because once you make Senior ranks it gets harder and harder to re-class and do those things.

If you get out and come back in I can guarantee you won't get RASP in your contract. You will come back in as needs of the Army and 11B will most likely not be an option. Usually for prior service it's 13 series and 88 series available, your other option is keep your MOS and choose your duty station upon re-entry. My advice if you want to do great things go to SFAS where they take people from all MOS's.

I do not recommend getting out. I would look at a Special Forces packet. It’s possible to come back in as an 11B but only if the business rules allow it. Also, if you do decide to get out and come back in. Make sure your PHA is all green. If not you may have to do a MEPS physical and could be denied entry.

It would not work. I did get out and then go back in a few years later, but since i already had an MOS and since it was a critical shortage one at this time I was not given the opportunity to reclass at enlistment but was assigned needs of the army.

If they want to keep you no matter you MOS they will. However, depending on rank you may be stepped down

I think you could talk to someone in you're chain of command in my old unit just about all of the officers had ranger tabs

As someone who does Army contracts at MEPS, I say do not try that route. Your chances are ZERO

DO NOT GET OUT- trust me if you let your contract run out without re-enlisting, it will be a bitch. Prior service, recruiters aren’t too keen of in my experience. You’ll get the back burner by recruiter and MEPS. I don’t have experience with reclassing but I’d talk to your chain of command first then reach out to the 75ths recruiters.

If you get out more than likely you will go to the needs of the army. RASP is a packet so you should be able to go to the Ranger Recruiter and talk with them.
