When reporting to Fort Campbell for my first assignment, will I be let in the gate if I show my CAC or should I arrange other transportation?

Reporting to Fort Campbell on the 3rd, my ds never really explained how reporting works before I left for hbl. I’m getting a ride from my parents, will they let us in the gate if I show them my CAC or do I need to arrange different transportation?

If your parents are taking you, ensure you they have vehicle registration and a printed copy of insurance. Even if people tell you proof of insurance on phone is ok, because of COVID some places require paper copys. Installation access requirements change from posts to post and year to year so do some of the homework others have mentioned and expect a wait. Reporting to your unit for the first time, I would arrive to the gate at least an hour before report time or go the night before to check the system out (best option). Your first impressions start on day one.

Also, ensure that everybody in the vehicle has a vaid drivers license or identification The gate guards will not allown entrance to people without an id

Either way you'll get in the gate - it will probably be easier if you're driving. Yes - all you need to get on any military base is your CAC. They will scan the CAC and let you through. But this is the link to Campbell visitor access.

Visitor Check-In :: FORT CAMPBELL
Fort Campbell has two visitor control centers; one at T.C Freeman Gate and one at Gate 7. Find information on the hours control centers, documents required, long-term passes, and more.

No one has mentioned it yet, but the ID's your parents use could potentially come into question. The ID's they present to the gate need to meet FEDERAL STANDARDS of validity.
States like my "wonderful" state of California issues drivers licenses to non resident citizens. So my current CA drivers license will not get me on post. So your parents need what we in CA call a REAL ID, or a US Passport.
There are several states that are still in this conversion process. I know CA is not alone.

SPC Erich Guenther - I recall that back in 2016 when I finished BOLC Ft Lee was not allowing anyone on post without a REAL ID. It was made very clear to my graduating class our guests would not be allowed on post without one.

CPT (Join to see) - Wow, not sure how they can do that but I guess it is up to the post Commander.

SPC Erich Guenther - Air Travel isn't requiring them, Military Posts have required them for a while now. Real ID or a Passport.

CPT (Join to see) I guess all the bases are different. I can usually drive on Naval Station Newport with a car full of people and only my ID is checked. My wife keeps say she wishes they were more thorough in the checks!
