To quote a comedian Ron White..."you can't fix stupid!" This is unbelievable. I personally am not going to go after anyone because I can't verify and it is not my place to challenge someone. If they are posers, they will have to answer for that in the mirror. things have a tendency to come around.
I really wish this did not happen to anyone, but more than that, a man that it happened to when he returned from the Vietnam war. To have to relive that now is appalling. Back then it was from civilians and now to get attacked by members of the military and on top of that members form his own service??? I hope that their CO and Top see all the attention and negative publicity this is causing and moreover the pain they have caused this fellow veteran to relive, and are taking action. It is definitely worth NJP. It may be time to go old school on their butts by tossing a few old medals on the parade field and let them start at one in with scissors cutting the grass on hands and knees until they find each one of those and report back with its history. Additionally, the black eye they put on themselves for the way they handled it with police intervention. Unbelievable.

Hmmmmm, who is the judge here on stolen valor? Veterans are encouraged to ware their medals on special occasion days. The young Marines have disgraced their own uniform with their actions. NJP is warranted and should be held.

this is just pitiful that these Marines would do this without first getting a good answer. We don't know what this man went through. He is a vet, plain and simple. They saw an older man with ribbons on his jacket, so what. They need to have their asses kicked.

I think that even if you know for certain someone is a poser, you should not make a scene because the rest of the public doesn't know the guy is a poser and why should they believe you do. You just end up looking like a ass clown. Worse, you might end up humiliating a honest-to-goodness war hero for no other reason than your 15 minutes of looking like a ass clown on youtube. Even worse, if you are a service member, such behavior constitutes, at a minimum, a violation of Article 134 of the UCMJ. And if you lay hands on, such as these ass clowns did on this Warrior when they ripped his buttons off, service member or not, that constitutes assault; you just might have a really bad day if you assault a concealed carrier such as myself.
This Marine deserves an apology from no less than the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

I agree. These 'stolen valor" chasers make the rest of us, active and veteran, look like crap. This needs some serious punishment. they should know better than to do something like this, but apparently they didn't listen to their NCOs. But I think they need to publicly and personally apologize to the Vet they assaulted and to the Marines, for tarnishing the Corps.

I think maybe people should mind their own business, and show respect for their elders.

I will start off by saying, I'm sorry the Veteran was accosted in the airport. Secondly, a PH Veteran is extremely less likely to get his "awards on straight" as noone, I mean NO-One but the Vet and His Doctors know the true extent of his injuries from time in service. This also goes for any veteran that has spent some time in the civilian world after service.. We all grow old and weary (some faster than others). AS we can see here on RP, no two Veterans look the same, so to assume someone is not a veteran by their "appearance" is incorrect. I, myself have been accused of "not being a veteran" based on my age/attire. Also, I still remember the NAVY instructing us not to ASS/U/ME during the first week in Boot Camp. My family and I will always be grateful to those whom have served, are serving, will serve.

Stolen Valor should be confronted but only if you can verify that it's stolen valor. I remember putting my stuff on in an awkward line up once after serving for about three years. We just hadn't put on our dress uniform in over a year.
