He shouldn't have been so offended. People have accused me of stolen valor before, and for less than a shoddy uniform. smile for the camera and let them know to dig as much as they'd like. the truth will come out. He should thank them for being vigilant against stolen valor, but it's just as important that those making the accusation be careful to document but not assault someone. public shaming with the video and picture is enough and, just in case, people making an accusation should belittle or assault people, verbally or physically.

Who are we to decide who should be offended and to what degree?

We're peers with good advice to give. I won't tell him whether or not he's offended, but he shouldn't be so offended. That's good advice that will help him out and support future calls for stolen valor.

CPT Jason Torpy Do you know how he was received after Vietnam? Do you know if he "ever" made it home? I see your point superficially, but it lacks humanity. The veteran should never have to apologize, or thank someone who maliciously slanders,

This is what our military is becoming. Just as they believed they are entitled before they join they are bringing it into our ranks. No humility, no respect for those who came before us, and no professionalism. I wish I could meet them in person to rip them limb for limb.

We focus way to much on this. The individuals that have or are "stealing valor" know who they are.

Pro Tip: Absolutely pick up trash when you walk by it, however don't questions someone's military service unless you know for a fact (through research and serving beside them) they have stolen valor.

I think RallyPoint does a disservice by posting videos of people being confronted about stolen valor--the focus on stolen valor and the platform provided by Rally Point creates a hostile environment. These Marines were looking for there 15 minutes of facebook fame. Disgraceful.

There are bad eggs in every branch. I was an FMF Corpsman with I Co 3/3 1967, wounded in combat and I take exception to these brothers deciding who served and who didn't.

He realized he made a mistake and apologized. Big f*cking deal. He should spend 30 days guarding this man's house, standing at attention at his front door. It was bad enough he didn't check to see if the medals were legit, he tried to legitimize his disgraceful acts by saying he was on active duty. I wonder if this "Marines" First Shirt found out about this? All this idiot was doing was trying to gain some notoriety by ambushing someone for YouTube. Stand guard for a month and it'll give you lots of time to consider other options than being an ass.
