This should never have happened. It is obvious that his jacket isn't even a piece of a uniform, and he is in no way trying to make it looks so; he is simply putting some of his accolades on his jacket to show pride in his service and support for others. Shame on those marines for putting him on blast like that and participating in this new witch hunt.

I'm one of those who no longer fits into his dress uniform. I do the same as the gentleman who was assaulted. Think before you act.

This is not stolen valor. This is about respecting those who served before us and not giving them there entitled respect. What have those Marines done to make amends? Who is ashamed now?

It is not our job to call these people out. It is especially not our job to belittle and denigrate a fellow veteran.

The thing I hate about these stolen valor people, they are pretty much as bad as the Black Lives Matter zeolots, and a lot of other zeolots. They seem to make it their life goal to out people. Generally, you can spot the BSers right away, and I have never been in the military, but have studied it enough. I forget his name, but one Navy man was high up in a past administration, and they got all over him because, well, he had a "V" on a ribbon from Vietnam. He committed suicide over it. But as the story got out. he did not have it on originally, went to his superiors, and, asked THEM if it was appropriate. They said yes. And the Stolen Valor nuts then hounded him out of office, until he killed himself. These people are darn near the global climate change ilk really. They have nothing better to do.

SPC Christopher Perrien - My whole thing is that for some, is it they mission in life though to go after things that, like you mentioned, or Adm Boorda. I think Zumwalt believed that everyone in the operation, or theater or something like had been given a "V" . I forget the whole story and all. Now, when some guys run across some people that are more obvious, as in people who have never been in the military, and it is obvious, then I don't mind them calling them out. A good one was a guy getting kicked out of bar claiming he was a Navy Seal to some guys he did not know were in the military, and they called him out on youtube. So, there are different versions of people and how I view them on itfor calling out people on stolen valor. He, some even I can tell they had never been in the military.

Yes, and it is in agreement to your statements of not knowing the Boorda story. True most people in the MSM or rich are a bunch of draft dodging fools who would never join the military. However who called out Boorda , while being in the MSM, he was different and in all likelihood contributed to Boorda killing himself. That man was David Hackworth , formerly a colonel in the army, veteran of much combat Korea and Vietnam, who had about as many medals as Audie Murphy, including 10 silver stars. Very eccentric character and the model for Col. Kurtz in the film Apocalypse Now (IMO). I think that Boorda took someone like Hackworth calling him out and wanting him to show up on national TV , as too much, so he took the only way out he considered "honorable" or maybe it was cowardly, or both, who knows.

Anyway I agree about people calling out people for stolen valor. Most people who have been in for a while can spot fakes. It is obvious these marines had not been in long (prolly boots), and of course were immature also.

Nice talking to you, Ryan.

Wanted to add a clarification for the record-, As I said IMO Hackworth was a model for Col Kurtz, but the actual story of the film Apocalypse Now, relates back to a novel "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad, 1899. good book , great author.

the definition has been limited to valor awards, purple hearts, higher-range awards.... of course if someone is trying to gain something off of his/her obviously fake exploits, say something. but if you confront someone who was saying they were in the military....nothing gives you the right to assault them. nothing gives you the right to assault anyone.

I sure feel for the Vet. When we came back "to the world" there were no bands or welcoming ceremonies, just fellow Americans that treated us like lepers. Now, after all these years a Vet stands tall and proud and he is abused again. As bad as S.E. Asia was back then, nothing compares to the rejection of ones countrymen, and now Brothers in arms. I sure hope he gets a face to face apology from those Ass wipes.
