Think long and hard about shaming me...
I'm 76 years old, Life in prison is no longer a deterrent to me..

I am retired and disabled law enforcement. I was also Honor Guard. I have carried my brothers and sisters under our flag. Great men and women die protecting our freedom and these posers dishonor that

Even during my short 13 years in the Army (INSCOM) as a keyboard pounding POG, uniforms and policies changed enough to be confusing at times. No excuse for active duty to be un-squared away though.

As much as I want to confront these people it has always been a fear of mine to accidentally call out a real vet. I’ve only done this 2 times. One I questioned a private who’s flag was on his left shoulder and his last name on the back of his PC was upside down. He ended up being a private who had just graduated from basic training about a week earlier (clearly didn’t learn anything) and another was just recent, a guy was in his 50s and had a beard and black boots with his OCP’s. He said because he was a “sargeant major” that he was supposed to wear black boots “so people could tell what tank he was” and I said “or they’ll know because of the rank on your chest and PC, he just said it was regulation lol I asked about his beard he said because he was part of the “navy seals” he’s allowed to have a beard. I then said “isn’t the navy seals and I’m just spit balling here.... umm navy? he said “they’re a branch of the army” I was like what do I know you’re a dare at major” he laughed then I laughed and showed him my military I.D. But I just decided to stop even though I had so much fun doing it.

It is better to stay silent and have people think you are a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
I am a member of a Facebook page that was from my days in Germany. I posted there from time to time. I once had a fellow vet call me out on my service stating my unit never existed on that base. Even after I posted various awards and letters with the base Commander’s signature on them. I was then accused of photoshopping. Some folks are just idiots.
He did finally apologize when I posted a photo of me doing guard mount at the front gate of the base. He recognized another soldier in the photo.

I serve my country because I believe in it. What others want to do is up to them. Still it's disappointing to see.
