When talking to people who have no military connections, have you been told you must have led an interesting life and should write about it?

Most of those stories would probably go something to the effect of "So no s**t, there I was. Jones was smoking a Marlboro I was spitting Grizzly long cut into an empty <insert energy drink here> can. 1SG Smith came walking around the corner and the next thing we knew we were mopping rocks and painting sand green."

I wrote about my interests of the 25th Inf div but was told I couldn't publish it because it wasn't wise to because it was a black eye to the officer in the div. it was about injustices to the enlistedmen and nco's of the 70's and if I had it published I'd have my benefits taken away.

Sad but this happens too. I have to wonder if any soldiers with guts went to the IG, and if so, was the IG intimidated by that officer.

SPC Wanda Vergara-Yates - I worked in the CG's office. One of my collateral duties was investigating Congrints and White House inquiries. Company and field grade officers and senior SNCO's selected to work in the CG or IG's office have pretty much shown they aren't intimidated by officers senior to them.

but nothing is more intimidating than trying to play special music solos during a church service while your toddler is in the nursery where your commander is pulling nursery duty. I could play in front of my superiors every Sunday, but I got nervous knowing my active and spirited little boy was entertaining my direct chain of command and hoping he behaved appropriately.
