SFC William Swartz Jr
It's not SSG Leonard Johnson it became Cp Garryowen prior to me arriving in '98, and was closed down around '04 IIRC.

All of the Third Brigade camps are closed now, most have been returned to the Korean government. Camp Edwards, the last time I looked at Google Earth was full of civilian conexs.

Rancier Ave. just outside of Ft. Hood was always known as a "watch your back" place back in the day.

Don't know if it is still there or not, but the Vacation Inn out side of FT. Campbell. Learned that one the hard way. Just came out of the field, was broke and wanted out of the Barracks. me and a buddy rented a room for 20 bucks. Was watching tv and left the door open. Lady of the night just strolled in flopped them out and said 20 dollars. After we kicked her a$$ out we locked the door!

SGT Bryon Sergent, you had probably rented her room and she was just checking to see who was in there. LOL

I remember when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in the 70s, the Marines sent out a msg naming the off-limit bar and we stayed away. When I was at Howard AFB in Panama as a civilian I found out the USAF not only told everyone the name of the off-limit place but provided a photo and directions to the place. I guess so the Airmen would be sure to avoid it. I always thanked them for providing directions to the best places in town.

Murchison rd in Fayetteville, NC was a high crime area when I was there, so much so we called it "the merc". Nothing really there to go do anyway.

Pretty much anywhere after dark right outside Naval Station San Diego. But mostly parks, trolley stations, and fast food parking lots.

This is most revealing. It is my firm policy never to respond to such questions lest I implicitly reveal the source of my knowledge. All I will say is that back in the days before political correctness there was a saying in the counterespionage business (Ft Meade, MD). "If you can't handle women you can't handle double agents; so go out and practice." At least that's what someone told me. There used to be a place called the Golden Flame in Odenton, MD I've heard about where America's top U.S. Army counterespionage operatives cut their teeth. One of those erstwhile operatives who frequented the Flame told the FBI they Had a mole ten years before they caught Hanson. He must have learned something there.
