Ok Paratroopers,
I'm new to Fort Bragg and in need of a set of black leather jump boots. Recommendation was to buy used. So where can a trooper get a good set of size 10s?

Im not Airborne, but I have plenty of experience with foot issues. Never ever buy used footwear. The previous owner of that footwear will more than likely have a completely different foot impression and if your foot is nowhere near that same impression, then all you will end up doing is causing more foot problems down the road.

SSG Livingston, we only wore them for payday activities, special occasions, ect. It's not a boot you're going to spend tons of time in. I can understand not buying used for garrison/combat boot that you will wear all the time.

You can buy decent used ones at Yadkin boots. You'll wear them once a month, do it would take years to break in a new pair, plus a used pair just shines up better. Yadkin boots will also shine them up for you with that high luster base coat that's easy to maintain.
I recommend you take your field boots there and get the SOPC special for about $80. They'll cut out the toe and heel cup and replace the sole with a softer midsole material. Not great for traction, but amazing for ruck marches and day to day wear.

"Good pair of Cocorans can't be beat" lol I always got mine from clothing sales, spit and lighter shined them, and wore them for years. I'm just not into wearing someone else's boots. Lots of places down Yadkin rd. You can also pay to get them shined. After a decade or so of shining them I went to leather luster, but I don't recommend it if you don't have thick skin.

I would NEVER buy a pair of used Jump Boots. Think about it this way - Would you buy someone's used Low Quarters?
Next, I would purchase Corcoran brand boots. From my understanding they are now priced at about $120 at one of the previously mentioned locations, which is less expensive than they were when I retired in 1996. To put this into perspective, I bought only 2 pairs of Corcoran Jump Boots, the second pair I bought in 1982 in the PX there at Ft Bragg, they cost me $125. I know that you could purchase them today in a civilian store for about $170.
Those boots if taken care of will last a lifetime. The pair that I bought in 1982 are in excellent condition, kept polished and are worn on occasion, much less than 20 years ago.

Order Corcoran. I had a pair of Corcoran II and loved them. The tips and heel was the only thing you polished. The sides where soft leather. They also felt great to wear! Best Jump boots I ever owned. Also there was no break in. Wore straight out of the Box!

About anywhere down on Bragg Blvd or Ol Sargers in in Spring Lake. But really I think you shoud buy a new pair of Corcoran Jump Boots, break them in, spit them up like you would want you soldiers to do.
A word to the wise spend the $82 dollars to get a life membership to the 82nd Assn, and you won't have to screw around with every year. Also when you get hit up for Savings Bonds check the block "other amount" and have 46.25 a month taken out. The block that is checked by your name on the USSB Alpha rooster will be the same for a large amount or small. Put the lagar amount in to the TSP, Thrift Saving Plan . you will way better off than with a bunch of USSBs.

Before I can answer your question answer mine.
Are you wanting a pair of Jump boots for looking pretty or are you wanting to buy a pair of boots for Jumping?
I follow an old saying "Buy Once, Cry Once." For me it was Corcoran Jump Boots, ATW.
For jumping and then the follow on ruck march afterwards A pair of Hi Teck Altama is what I jumped in most of the time followed by Jungle boots.

The big difference between the the Corcoran (if still sold) & Corcoran II; with the I's the sides and the arch over the top of your foot are an all leather boot & the II's have a soft (that only gives you a high brush shine). On post, off post (down Yakin RD), or online you should always wear your own footwear. Besides any fugus that may have been left by the last user, but their instep and stance (walking & satanding). If the pervious owner walks on the side of their foot and you step straight heel to toe ... The boots will would be uncomfortable regardless of how broke in they are. The good thing is they are an easy boot to have resoled. If I use myself as an example ... Seventeen years at FT Bagg and only one pair of jump boots. But that was when you could wear them everyday with BDU's & Class A's and every uniform prior to ACU's to break them in good.
*** If you want nothing more out of box and wear than the corcoran II is the right boot. The sides we're to soft for me and I think the corcaran I look better.

Also The Corcoran II is considered a Field boot and has a more flexible sole. Better for marching in my experience.

When I was in , they switched from the old GI boot, to that crappy speedlace one, that has become that new half nylon one.
Personally , now I don't know uniform standards now, but I recommend Corcoran jump boots for guard mount/parades. And for regular wear you would need another pair, they are good. Check for leather defect though. Some pair had "spots" that did not shine well. Minus Future. LOL
For regular duty and field , nothing beats the old real Vietnam era green jungle boot with the Panama sole(wellco).(they come in wide sizes too :) 0 My pair did 2 years in the army , and another 10-15 years civilian work (logging , construction, etc.). Most comfortable pair of boots I ever had, still got them , they purty beat up now. They are a good "running" boot too, if your unit is that "gung ho".
If not them, then the old Black learther GI boot since WWII is a good one. In cold weather there was a German boot with a Vibram sole that was excellent.
NEVER BUY USED, and make sure any new you buy actually fit, and as said check for defect in leather, stitching , hardware and soles. If you are airborne your feet are your life. Get the best new and spend the money required for them. Ask around, find someone who knows "boots" to check pairs in store, if the person there is not of help.. The base clothing store(Class 2) will prolly get you the best deals.

I agree with those that have said you do not want a used pair. Get a new pair and break them in for your foot. That said, there are many surplus stores around base where you can get both new and used boots. If you want to buy online, go with http://uspatriottactical.com/jump-boots/

I know this might not be as helpful as you were looking for but being that men's 10 is the best selling shoe size in the world, shouldn't be too hard.

If you are Airborne do not buy a "used" set of jump boots. Buy new, break them in right. I still have mine from 40 years ago.

You might also search on Google for custom military boots I saw numerous links so there's apparently almost a cottage industry of such groups I'd gathered .

Purely as a thought for whatever it might be worth you might try custom fitted individually designed versions e.g. here's one example http://trumold.com/faqs.html hope you might find it and or anything similar of possible use, you might also possibly ask if any local VA Hosp might be able to help get you fitted just in case your own installation might not be able, I have known of such instances where svc mbrs can seek such VA Hosp help albeit rarely certainly if allowed, purely a thought. Then too you might I thought also consider laying out the cost unless prohibitive, then either seeking reimbursement possibly though TRICARE maybe, or, as a necessary work expense, you might conceivably ask someone competent in such things whether boots, as with e.g. uniform cleaning costs etc might possibly be allowed as a tax deduction. Pls understand, I obv have no idea if such things are at all doable, I just thought to offer a few purelymoff themcuff suggestions honest ,as your problem merely struck me as being of interest that's all honest hopemwaa of use be eager for any thoughts many thanks .
