While assigned to 269th Signal Company, 504th Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade, my company (the entire Brigade pretty much) received the Meritorious Unit Commendation under DAGO 2009-32.

For those of you out there that want research your units of assignments and see if your units were Awarded commendations while you were assigned, go here: https://www.hrc.army.mil/asset/16333

Do a search for your unit name/number as per your orders at the time.

<p>This website is also useful, I recently discoved a MUC awarded to my unit for service in 2004-2005, the award was not awarded untill 2010, and no one I have talked to, including Some of the senior leaders from the time even knew that we received the award.&nbsp; </p><p>http://history.army.mil/html/forcestruc/wotawards.html</p><p>&nbsp;</p><div class="pta-link-card"><div class="pta-link-card-picture"><img src="http://history.army.mil/images/coinprint.png"></div><div class="pta-link-card-content"><div class="pta-link-card-title"><a href="http://history.army.mil/html/forcestruc/wotawards.html" target="_blank">War on Terrorism Unit Awards</a></div><div class="pta-link-card-description">Due to limited resources we are currently only posting recently approved valor decorations (PUCs and VUAs). "Type your unit name into the Publication Text Search field and a list of all the awards issued for your unit will pop up." Those instructions do not work. Have steps been omitted?

AR 600–8–22. Military Awards
Thats your AR Ref.

BLUF: if you’re in a unit you can wear the 'unit awards' of the unit while assigned to that unit but not afterwards. Some Companies/Batts make you do this. I have never added/worn the unit awards I want present for. If the unit acquires an award when you are assigned i.e. you deploy with them, you have earned that award permanently.

You can check what awards your unit has at here

The heraldry page is difficult to navigate. Advice... Take a knee, face out and suck it up lol. Not the best answer but true.
You just have to search through all the listings for your organization. It's painful.

Where I can find out what unit(s) I was assigned to while I was in Bagram, Afghanistan back in 2001?

I was part of a 12 man signal team that was sent to Bagram back in December 8th, 2001. My orders state that I was OPCON to USCINCCENT. But, when we arrived on the ground, the only units there were 5th SF, 160th SOAR, 274th Surgical (Airborne), some Air Force folks, and a bunch of Afghans walking all over the place.

I mean, I doubt that I was assigned to USCINCCENT for the entire period, as that would be weird. Where would I find this information?

Your unit of assignment should have been based on the deployment orders. I would imagine you were detached from your parent unit and attached to a unit out there for OPCON/TACON, at a minimum, with your parent unit probably maintaining ADCON over you. I believe there was a support element from 1st COSCOM out there during that time as well, as I was assigned to 58th Maintenance Co, 7th Transportation Bn, 1st COSCOM and we deployed half our company to Afghanistan. Disney Blvd is actually named after a friend of mine who died while over there during that time. I'm not sure if there's an archive of deployment orders, but it would make sense that they're stored somewhere. You may want to contact HRC directly, as they will probably have the best answer.

Understand that this HRC website is difficult to use, has no search engine and this makes is very difficult to verify your unit awards.

Q: There are numerous units who participated in “Operation Just Cause” during the Panama Conflict 1989-1990 period. They were awarded The Presidential Unit Citation for combat. My question is everyone who was assigned to one these units authorized to wear this citation without orders on their DD215/DD214? Please advice.
